President Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a blood circulation issue, after noticing “mild swelling in his lower legs,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed Thursday.
Leavitt made the surprise disclosure while addressing conjecture about recent bruising on Trump’s hands, which she said was assessed to be “minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin” as a preventative heart-health measure.
“In the effort of transparency, the president wanted me to share a note from his physician with all of you today,” Leavitt said.
“In recent weeks, President Trump noted mild swelling in his lower legs, in keeping with routine medical care, and out of an abundance of caution, this concern was thoroughly evaluated by the White House medical unit,” she read.
“The president underwent a comprehensive examination, including diagnostic vascular studies, bilateral lower extremity, venous doppler ultrasounds were performed and revealed chronic venous insufficiency… a common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70.”

Oh my what a scandal, an 80 year old with varicose veins.
I would buy them.
“I have had just this for 20 or 30 years. Compression socks ftw.”
Congestive heart failure
No one lives for 20-30 years with congestive heart failure. Geesh.
____________________________________________________________
What the OP had is irrelevant to Trump’s condition. The three most common causes of edema in an 80 year old male are congestive heart failure, kidney and/or liver failure, and what physicians term “chronic veinous insufficiency.”
I have no idea what Trump’s medical problems are, but his age and physical condition make him a prime candidate for those problems.
Are you one of those people who will demand that we all get in formation and sing every morning about our love and faith in Dear Leader?
Also, more sleep.
Better that diagnosis than CHF.
Kyrie eleison.
Nobody should demand it, we should do it voluntarily . . or else . . . you're one of them.
Actually, my father lived exactly 20 years after his CHF diagnosis.
😂 I could never do that I’m not flexible at all 😂
We’ve had family members live with into their 90s and early 100s.
I have a similar problem and control it partly with a lift chair that elevates my feet above the level of my heart. I usually sleep in that chair at night. Does a great deal to keep my feet from swelling.
Elastic of my socks causes indentations and.calf bulge above and narrower below. Don’t know why.
As you age, your skin thins. I’ll soon be 78, and within the last year I have more bruising on my arms. If I carry bags of groceries on my arms, they bruise. I sleep on my sides with one under the pillow. I wake up with bruises because of it. My doctor has seen them, and said it is nothing to be concerned with. I take no blood thinners.
A common cause of congestive heart failure is degradation of the aortic valve that causes potential backup into the heart. The solution is to have the valve replaced as has happened with me.
Yeah, that’s it. Take a medical condition and mock the President to make a point.
Grow up.
For me...I cut down on my salt and increase my water...
Glad he's watching it....
Do think he should rest or relax more...like he's gonna do that. He's on a mission...and pacing himself the best he can.
No President has achieved so much as in the last 6 months.
I take the anti-inflammatory drug Naproxen for chronic joint pain. It has aspirin in it, so I can't take additional aspirin. Been on it for years after being diagnosed with a non-specific connective tissue disorder.
I used to be able to do that. In my teen years that is...
His ankles STILL aren’t as fat as Hillary’s!
He needs to do whatever can be done naturally as much as possible in addition to meds etc
Compression hose. Exercise low sodium
President Trump contrasts with former presidents in terms of not having a rural outlet / ranch that he frequents.
However, he does play golf!
President Reagan most notably displayed utmost physical fitness and athletic capability. He lived into his 90s despite Alzheimers and having survived a harrowing assassination attempt.
