Second federal judge sides against Trump's election executive order

A second federal judge on Friday blocked an executive order from President Donald Trump aimed at overhauling elections in the U.S.

Trump's March 25 executive order sought to compel officials to require documentary proof of citizenship for everyone registering to vote for federal elections, accept only mailed ballots received by Election Day and condition federal election grant funding on states adhering to the new ballot deadline.

"The Constitution does not grant the President any specific powers over elections," Judge Denise J. Casper of the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts said in Friday's ruling.

Chief Justice Roberts has failed our nation by not putting a stop to these national injunctions by activist judges.

What other nation allows those in their country illegally the right to vote in national elections?

Get Congress to pass a law. Supposedly we have the majority in both houses. This should not just be on Trump.

The Constitution also doesn’t mention District Judges in courts created by the Congress having the power to overrule the President nationwide or even on a district basis.

They just thought that up and did it on their own.

Traitor Roberts is totally in on the deal to abuse the legal system to trump Trump.

The GOP may have a majority in name but not in thought. Too many Republicans are democrats in disguise.

“The Constitution does not grant the President any specific powers over elections,” Judge Denise J. Casper of the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts said in Friday’s ruling.

Yes, but it CLEARLY grants the POTUS with enforcement of existing laws. The laws are clear, at least for Federal Elections, that you must be a citizen and there is a single voting day described in the Constitution. States can do what they want with elections, but they can’t change Federal Requirements.

I submit that the nation turned bad when it accepted women into law schools. Now a third of US 1.3 million lawyers are women and emotion rather than intellect is master of us all.

Sorry....The President does not run the lections. His premise may be correct...but "honesty" has always been the rule when registering...And it is assumed...and you know what they say.

I'm more concerned with illegals being counted in the census as that gives Dems a lot more seats...

It would be that simple on this matter and a whole wave of others... but being a cog in the swamp wheel, Congress is hostile to Trump and the American people. So they will do nothing instead.

It would take a Constitutional Amendment to change the Power of the State and control of their election rules.

Congress should re-write the EO but call it “just a tax” and dare Roberts to oppose it. LOL

Use the Constitutional phrasing about “each state having a Republican form of government.”

You can’t be a Republic while allowing non-citizens full voting rights, can you?

100% this. Congress needs to step and, frankly, the president needs to pressure them privately and publicly to do their jobs.
