New York City mayoral front-runner Andrew Cuomo vowed to lead the fight against President Trump, but bizarrely pledged to “spend eight years in Washington” in a bid to help Democrats retake the House.
The former governor told Politico he planned to wage the national campaign against the Trump administration — even though the president’s second and final term would come to a close in 2028, or three years into the next mayor’s tenure.
“I would spend eight years in Washington — go to that US Conference of Mayors, go to the National Governors Association,” Cuomo said as he detailed his anti-Trump strategy if he’s elected to run the Big Apple.
Cuomo, who is reportedly embroiled in a Department of Justice probe over his handling of nursing home deaths during COVID, noted he would home in specifically on Trump’s planned Medicaid cuts.
“He’s cutting Medicaid. Medicaid is not a blue-city, blue-state situation. That is in every state. That is a lot of red congressional districts. And he could lose the House on cutting Medicaid if you organized it and got it moving,” Cuomo said.
“You’re going to have to be a spokesperson, advocate, organizer,” he added. “This is what Medicaid means in Mississippi, this is what Medicaid means in Texas … And you organize that, they don’t have a lot of congressional seats left to lose.”
A confident Cuomo, who is still yet to secure the Democratic nomination, made the remarks after being asked what leverage he believed he’d have against the White House if he was elected.
He acknowledged that a mayor has little power compared to the commander-in-chief but vowed to ramp up his political organizing to fill that void.
Mayor Eric Adams was quick to slam Cuomo’s Trump-takedown-strategy, bluntly saying:

I heard his dad speak at a Zig Ziggler presentation once. He was trying to seem like President Regan with his claims of how NY was being run by him. Many people there thought he would be out next President. I was one of the few there who didn’t think that way. Not a problem. It was the early 1990’s and both sides were still talking to each other. Senator Al Gore was just a twinkle in Governor Bill Clinton’s eye back then.
Another clown who should be in jail at the least, but Trump and his team of weakling losers do not have th brains or guts to do it.
Democrat playbook - Promise them everything and give them nothing.
While it is impossible to predict the future it is possible to look at trends and see which way things are going.
Currently the Democrats who are on the 20 side of every 80/20 problem we are facing today it would appear they are losing support rather than gaining support.

This is just shorthand saying the American people are just plain tired of the Democrats and their policies.
So while it is possible Cuomo could win in New York he is swimming against the current.

That’s the only plan left wing nuts got. The very thing they accused everyone else of, that’s their entire agenda now. Stand up and be proud Democrats, you now have a candidate that matches what you really are, full of hate and no plan. What could possibly go wrong?

The Democrat candidates are all promising the same. If Trump goes into campaign mode NOW and focus on his program, rather than foreign policy adventures, this promise will lose their election.

Riiight, because that's what NYC voters want to hear, "elect me and I'll spend all my time in DC". What a footshooting nimrod he is -- not least because, among Demwit mayors, he was the most cooperative during the [shudder] great pandemic.
