Attorney Alan Dershowitz said on Newsmax Friday that the Central Park Five may come to regret filing a defamation lawsuit against President Donald Trump, calling the case both legally tenuous and politically risky for the plaintiffs.
A federal judge refused to dismiss a defamation lawsuit against Trump filed by the exonerated Central Park Five over his past public remarks. Appearing on “The Record With Greta Van Susteren,” Dershowitz said that the Central Park Five men were not completely innocent and that new scrutiny could expose details they’d rather keep buried.
“This is going to be a very hard case for the plaintiffs to win. They were not innocent people. They were doing things in the park that certainly were not commendable, at least some of them were,” Dershowitz said. “They did not admit their guilt. But it’s a much more complicated, nuanced case. And I think they will regret having brought it. Because if this case actually goes to trial, we’re going to get depositions that show exactly what they did and where they were every minute of time.”
With some of the plaintiffs now pursuing political careers, Dershowitz warned the case could expose uncomfortable truths.

Yeah. The truth is that they were guilty of assault and rape.
The judge will block any negative depositions as being not relevant to the immediate case, and the jury will vote against Trump.
If I remember correctly these 5 had multiple run ins with the law before this happened. They may kinda regret ever going down this path to begin with
I can only speak for myself, but if I faced a deposition about what I was doing on a particular night in 1989, I would just throw up my hands and say “Can’t help you. It was a long time ago.”
By all accounts I have read, they were RIGHTLY convicted. That they were present and involved seems to be beyond dispute.
The reversion of this case was a quintessential leftist race theater and anti-police hustle.
I predict judge shopping will soon ensue. Can you say “excluded”? ‘Cause that is the word that will drop from their chosen judge’s mouth the most.
We’re going to get depositions that show exactly what they did and where they were every minute of time.
Plaintiffs now pursuing political careers.
And just like that poof jail cell.
Because the next question will be: “Then why are so certain that you DIDN’T assault and rape someone that you’ve filed this lawsuit in the first place?”
I’m surprised these nitwits have even insisted on proceeding with the case. It’s not the depositions that will sink them, but the responses they gave when being interrogated by the police when they were brought in for questioning.
They were guilty as hell. Chicanery got their confessions thrown out.
Dinner last night? No clue! Sort of like email and texts. Read em and delete em. I know they’re out there just not on my phone.
and if law enforcement has evidence of wilding done in the areas you frequented or actions taken by you at times reported.
How many years does one get to have before suing for defamation?
These twerps didn’t get together and decide “Let’s sue Trump.”
They were recruited by some big ambulance chaser firm to harass Trump.
The main problem is a NYC jury. Trump is presumed guilty and no amount of evidence will ever prove him innocent
There's a guy in Boston who pretended to be an uber driver and he raped more than ten women. The first nine raoe victims had gone to the police over a period of two years and the police did nothing about it. Why? His sister is the attorney general.
Forget it Jake, it’s New York.
If New York bastages can hand E. Jean Carroll 83 million for her pack of lies, they can surely find a way to punish Trump for millions more.
I think Trump stands a good chance of winning with a Pennsylvania jury. Just show one of these mutants wearing a Knicks jersey or a Mets baseball cap, and the case is over. :-O
“The judge will block any negative depositions as being not relevant to the immediate case, and the jury will vote against Trump.“
Gotta agree. We seem to have lost the judiciary. I wouldn’t trust them to act outside of leftist belief. The law means nothing to them.
