The original passage of Social Security was trumpeted as sparing the elderly of the future slide into poverty and the need for struggling to work to barely survive.

Ways to live to 100:

1) Avoid the clot shot.
2) Don't learn too much on the Clintons.
3) Don't start an AA meeting in Louisiana.

Even at 100, you can tell by looking at her that she must have been quite a looker back in the day.

For the record, it seems like her keys to longevity are:

1. Keep moving your body

2. Be willing to change your diet to stay healthy

3. Have pleasures to look forward to

4. Stay creative

5. Don't sweat the small stuff/stay optimistic

She probably made it to 100 BECAUSE she’s single! LOL

I retired at 55 and was never bored for one minute because I love golf and played 18 holes 5 days every week. That left barely enough time to do house chores lol. Now at age 84 I am keeping busy with one cruise every month. That requires lots of preparation and then tons of laundry after disembarking from the ship. And still mow the lawn myself with a battery powered push mower. This mower is quieter and no fumes to inhale.

She appears to have 4 kids, so maybe she’s widowed.

One Grandma lived to 98, never exercised a day in her life, ate whatever she wanted, and drank a scotch every day. My other grandma lived to 104, swam into her 90s, was very thin, and got dementia at 102.

Personally I plan to continue drinking...

Genetics is the biggest factor for longevity.

Bobbyv, You must have had a very good income, being able to retire at 55, and able to take a cruise 12 times a year.
Good for you! If I may ask, did having lots of IRAs and 401K’s work to your benefit, or was it down to saving and not spending much of what you have saved?

JoCleta Wilson celebrates turning 100 with a party at Home Depot in October 2024. She's the company's oldest employee in the U.S.

She seems to be in pretty good shape for her age.

Wow, she’s my current poster child!

One of my clients said her aunt worked at Home Deport till 94.

Maybe there’s something about working there that keeps you young. Either that, or the place attracts people with very good genes.
