JoCleta Wilson sought out the job after discovering she didn't like retirement. "I got so tired of myself. I had to get out of the house and come back to work."
At 100 years old, JoCleta Wilson still works and drives herself to her job — just the latest career path for the former dancer and business owner. She’s Home Depot’s oldest employee in the U.S., the company says, working as a cashier in a store in Louisville, Kentucky.
Wilson, who works two mornings a week, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., sought out the job to be around other people and talk with customers. “I retired three different times — 10 years each time in retirement, and it is not what it’s cracked up to be. I got so tired of myself,” Wilson tells TODAY.com.
“I had to get out of the house and come back to work and see what was going on in society. … I have a lot of fun.”
Most customers probably have no idea the vivacious, energetic woman at the register is 100 years old. She celebrated the milestone birthday last October with a big party at her home, complete with two piano players and 80 guests.
Home Depot also threw her a “huge party,” she says.

The original passage of Social Security was trumpeted as sparing the elderly of the future slide into poverty and the need for struggling to work to barely survive.
Postage stamp in Cuba showing how it’s done....
God bless her!
She’s as hawt as Betty White
She’s single?
1) Avoid the clot shot.
2) Don't learn too much on the Clintons.
3) Don't start an AA meeting in Louisiana.
What an inspiration!
For the record, it seems like her keys to longevity are:
1. Keep moving your body
2. Be willing to change your diet to stay healthy
3. Have pleasures to look forward to
4. Stay creative
5. Don't sweat the small stuff/stay optimistic
She probably made it to 100 BECAUSE she’s single! LOL
I retired at 55 and was never bored for one minute because I love golf and played 18 holes 5 days every week. That left barely enough time to do house chores lol. Now at age 84 I am keeping busy with one cruise every month. That requires lots of preparation and then tons of laundry after disembarking from the ship. And still mow the lawn myself with a battery powered push mower. This mower is quieter and no fumes to inhale.
Wow! She is an inspriation.
*inspiration
She appears to have 4 kids, so maybe she’s widowed.
One Grandma lived to 98, never exercised a day in her life, ate whatever she wanted, and drank a scotch every day. My other grandma lived to 104, swam into her 90s, was very thin, and got dementia at 102.
Personally I plan to continue drinking...
Genetics is the biggest factor for longevity.
Thanks :-)
Ways to live to 100:
1) Avoid the clot shot.
2) Don’t learn too much on the Clintons.
3) Don’t start an AA meeting in Louisiana.
4) Don’t go hunting with Dick Cheney.
Bobbyv, You must have had a very good income, being able to retire at 55, and able to take a cruise 12 times a year.
Good for you! If I may ask, did having lots of IRAs and 401K’s work to your benefit, or was it down to saving and not spending much of what you have saved?
She sure doesn’t look to be 100 years old.....

She seems to be in pretty good shape for her age.
Wow, she’s my current poster child!
One of my clients said her aunt worked at Home Deport till 94.
Maybe there’s something about working there that keeps you young. Either that, or the place attracts people with very good genes.
