Gov. Wes Moore called the occasion not just a great day for Tubman’s home state but for all of the U.S.

“Today, we celebrate a soldier and a person who earned the title of veteran,” Moore said. “Today we celebrate one of the greatest authors of the American story.”

“The city of Philadelphia chose a Black artist to make a 14-foot (4.3-meter) bronze statue to go on display next year. In 2022, a Chicago elementary school was renamed for Tubman, replacing the previous namesake, who had racist views. However, plans to put Tubman on the $20 bill have continued to stall.”

Never too late for Affirmative Action and DEI.

Does the Gov realize Tubman was likely Republican?

Wyatt hailed her aunt’s legacy of tenacity, generosity and faith and agreed Veterans Day applied to her as much as any other servicemember. “Aunt Harriet was one of those veterans informally, she gave up any rights that she had obtained for herself to be able to fight for others,” Wyatt said. “She is a selfless person.”

WTF??? No niece of Harriet Tubman is alive today. This is some descendent looking to get in on the grift.

Yeah a general of absolutely nothing. Who ran a rat line.
What army did this scullery command? Answer: none. One MORE did against the already reconciled NATION on the subject of the WBTS.

To continue to rub salt into the wounds of the families whose ancestors gave their lives for their beliefs- like how many Union soldiers died for the “freedom” still unappreciated by these Leftist Marxist clowns.

Who the hell made this decision anyhow? Can’t appoint someone a General? What the hell?

Harriet Tubman was an okay gal. She risked her life to free slaves held by DEMOCRATS and scouted for REPUBLICAN soldiers. Oh, and she was also a believer in the Right to Bear Arms.

All this will of course be ignored by today’s liberals.

She rode a tank, held a general’s rank.

Posthumously.

The same that appointed Sanders a Colonel. Actually Sanders was appointed a “Kentucky Colonel” which is an honorary title like universities give Honorary PhD to celebrities.

I guess a Governor can make Harriet Tubman an posthumously a honorary General in the states National Guard.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_Colonel

Who cares, I don’t.

From what I’m reading, she was never in the military.

A great woman but unless she commanded battalions of men (which she did not) it is well over the top. She would probably be embarrassed by the honory title.

Colonel or Captain would be closer to the mark.

A couple of my ancestors were granted Colonel commissions for enlisting and organizing County level militia forces.

Oh well, just an honorary title for a deceased heroine.

Better than the practices of pay to play and giving real commands to politicians’ sons and daughters for patronage purposes.

Woodrow Wilson’s friend Colonel House is another example. Just a political fixer who got a no-show job from the Texas governor and then used the title to give himself more prestige.

commander of 150 men = general according to DIE

commander of 150 men = a company = a captain if part of a larger unit, but maybe a major or even a lt. colonel if a separate unit

to be a 1-star brigadier general, need a separate brigade, at least 2,000 men

to be a 4-star general, that is “a general,” need an army group, maybe 250,000 men

“General” in the army isn’t like a ship captain (not to be confused with the rank O6 in the Navy), where a commander of any ship is called “captain.”

Wes Moore, a distinguished army veteran, should know better

Not “General Kamuimalola” ? Let’s ask “general” Dick Cheney the near mastermind of the slaughter of an entire branch of mobilized mechanized Army in Iraq I. A real moron. Too bad General Schwartzkopf isn’t still alive to discuss Cheney’s idiotic qualifications in that regard.

Tubman a general— delusional fabrication.
