More than 80,000 birds have died over the past 2½ months at a network of wildlife refuges on the Oregon-California border.

The deaths, linked to a rare combination of botulism and avian flu, increased sharply since the...

..wetland habitat continues to shrink, forcing birds into smaller patches of water, and climate change dries up what’s left of the habitat, the toxin has infected many more birds.

Competition for water

in the Klamath Basin

makes the situation worse.

Gosh, would "welands drying" be due to emptying Klamath Lakes pursuant to the dam breach?

It was for the environ-mint you know.

California has been systematically demolishing long standing dams.

The ecological disaster has been huge.

The feds drained the Klamath basin for the Indians and the fish.

Dead birds are the result.

Drought?

Doubt it. The Klamath Dam created a huge swampy wetland area. The greenies, real estate interests, and the energy racketeering scam had the dam breached and the lake drained.

“Drought?”
No, it’s from democrats meddling with the water supply to put Trump areas out of business. Democrats destroy everything they touch and now they’ve turned Oregon into a shithole in most areas including every area democrats live in.
And if you live in a non-democrat area, don’t count on firetrucks arriving in time to put out any fires. Thankfully, we’ve had a mostly cool summer with rain.

Area has a little moderate drought: https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/CurrentMap/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx?fips_41035 If drought kills the birds, why didn't they all die in 2021-2022?
