MLB legend Pete Rose has died at the age of 83, TMZ Sports has learned.

Rose, Major League Baseball's hit king, passed away earlier today at his home in Las Vegas.

Pete's agent, Ryan Fiterman of Fiterman Sports, confirmed the news, saying, "the family is asking for privacy at this time."

Pete was one of the greatest baseball players to ever grace a diamond, earning 17 All-Star Game nods, winning three World Series and the 1973 N.L. MVP.

First base is a power hitter's position.

At the end of his career he had 35 doubles, 2 home runs, and 104 RBIs ... over the course of THREE seasons.

Like I said before: absolutely pathetic.

very sad he was never admitted to HOF. but after all the owners have to preserve the integrity of the game, even when they have demonstrated none in terms of their management of MLB

Rose didn't have enough power to make the HOF with 2700 hits.

above average talent at best. Average arm, average speed, no power, he was a singles hitter. I bet at least 1000 of those singles were “astro-turf” singles. He played his whole career on those awful cookie cutter stadiums from the 1970’s, with rock hard astro-turf. The ball shot thru the infield like a bullet. Hard pressed to put him in the top 50 all time.

Pete Rose belongs in the HOF.

As Phillies fan, I remember that well, especially Pete catching the popup that Bob Boone dropped.

that is absurd. The guy was a degenerate gambler and he was
the manager!!! If you dont think decisions he made didnt affect the games...leave a pitcher in too long, take one out too soon, etc etc...cmon, you cant be serious.

Well, it's one thing to be a gambler. It's quite another to bet on a sport in which you are involved. Remember Shohei Ohtani had a gambling scandal at the beginning of this season until they were able to come up with a (cough, cough) alibi.

I think that they should have lifted this ban sometime in the last 35 years. I think that it would have been a great story for baseball.

Just like with OJ. He was found innocent but he lost a wrongful death law suit.

Rose was a 17-time all-star.

Even, if you exclude the last seven years of his career, he would have been a HOF.

Pete didn’t hit home runs or drive in many runs simply because he was a lead off hitter. Also. “ Only player to play at least 500 games at five different positions – 1B (939), LF (671), 3B (634), 2B (628), RF (595)”

As pete himself always said, he was a good player but not a great player. No HR power and just an ok fielder.

And for the thrill of gambling, Pete decided to throw it all away.

Even as a kid, I knew something was wrong when they kicked Pete out of baseball, but let Dwight Gooden who couldn’t stop the drugs and stuff return over and over and over.

Pete Rose was as fierce a competitor as anyone who played the game, including Ty Cobb. His longevity record (hits) is amazing. Loved to watch those headfirst root-hog-or-die slides... Now he's been called out of the big game. He was and is one of a kind.
