Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday said Ukraine has captured the key town of Sudzha in the Russian Kursk region, providing his forces with an important foothold as troops continue to surge across Russia.
Ukraine’s commander-in-chief, Col. Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported the capture of Sudzha during a Thursday briefing, Zelensky said in a video address.
Ukraine is setting up a commandant’s office in the town, Zelensky said, while more than 80 settlements in Kursk have now fallen to advancing Ukrainian troops.
“I thank every warrior of ours who ensures all this,” Zelensky said.
Moscow has not yet commented on Ukraine’s claims. Russian military bloggers are continuing to report fighting across Kursk, including in and around Sudzha, though Ukrainian forces have pressured the town for more than a week and have been close to taking it for days.

“Joe Biden is sharp as a tack!!”
“Cheap fakes!!”
Zelenskyyyyyyy needs to be told to wrap this crap up. According to the liberal far-left news “media”, he has already totally wiped out Pogo Pooty Pooh’s Army, Navy and Air Force four times.
ZelenskySkySky fabricating victory stories to buttress position on surrender.
No matter what you dig up, the “hill” this time, the DSC is being dismantled, Uke (CIA) biolabs shut down, and cabal tyranny deposed.
I do wonder how many foreign merc joined in.
Remember, Russia did this in Syria, Africa, and a few other places recently.
We will regret the reliance on PMCs (mercs).
“Hold, hold, hold,” says Russian General.
Ukraine border in three days!
This is all fine but I’m waiting for them to achieve something strategic.
That could include cutting the rails, drawing away significant Russian forces, holding a new front for the long term.
Hasn’t happened yet.
Which is.. odd.
Ukraine has hit some rail and gas lines. Also putting pressure on a nuke plant (shut down).
I would expect at least a shift back or counter attack to cut off the salient. May be still on the way.
Ukraine/Zelensky are pushing all their chips in
Makes me think we are nearing an end to this war
Is Sudzha the town up his a$$?
Heck I have been saying that for a while now.
It servers neither Russia nor Ukraine’s long term interest to continue this.
It does serve many other parties interest for Ukraine to die while bleeding Russia white. And not just Nato
The purpose of the incursion is to relieve pressure on the battle lines in the east. They will keep pushing until Russia reacts. It has the additional effect of forcing the Russian to move, making them vulnerable to attack. And in the end it will force Russia to defend its entire border which again they hope will relieve pressure in the east.
How well it works remains to be seen, but that’s the apparent purpose.
Slava Ukraine!
Go Ukrainians. Moscow is not too far!
Russians have all troops down south, the northern front is basically undefended.
Sudzha used to be part of Ukraine.
County seat.
Strategic point of pipeline branch.
What do we know about civilian casualties in Russia?
Take Kursk Oblast, then turn southerly and take Belgorod, Voronezh, & Rostov Oblasts, run referendums since most in those obalsts would rather live in UKR than Russia.
What do we know about civilian casualties in Russia?

Few - mostly from Russian glide bombs FABs and KABs, other Russian fires. Little if any from UKR fires.
