A longtime Maryland Democrat and one of the longest-serving members in Congress survived a stroke over the weekend his team announced Tuesday.

Rep. Steny Hoyer, 85, has represented Maryland in Congress since first being elected in 1981.

'On Sunday night, August 11, Rep. Steny Hoyer experienced a mild ischemic stroke and sought medical treatment,' Hoyer spokesperson Margaret Mulkerrin wrote in a statement.

'Mr. Hoyer has responded well to treatment and has no lingering symptoms. He expects to resume his normal schedule next week.'

'Mr. Hoyer’s wife and family extend their deepest thanks to his medical team,' the statement concluded.

Congress is an assisted living center

Unfortunately, so is the White House right now.

.....he is living off the fumes of the mid 60’s democratic party...the new Marxist, socialist “woke” democratic party will brutally dump him soon enough...

p.s. he had his time to “make his peace where highways never end” and if he never did....well...what can I say?

Nope. Glad he died. I hope Satan has a pineapple to shove up his backside.

“”I have nothing nice to say, so I’ll say nothing.””

I guess that’s the smartest response but I think he spent too many years with Pelosi...that’s it!!!

The late-60s Democratic Party was also Marxist/socialist. Look at their party platforms.

Hardly a nickle's worth of difference between us and the old Soviet politburo is there. Hang onto that power until they go permanently horizontal.

The upside though is that these archaic filthy dems hang on until they croak and never get to fully enjoy their ill gotten gains in retirement. They have such bloated egos and their identity is completely merged with their corrupt titles.

"With all due respect, let's please not go there. "They" love to rejoice when someone on the other side suffers injury or death. We're better than that. My father had a stroke, almost ten years ago"

So did mine, unfortunately he survived because as DPA for his healthcare, I revoked his DNR on the spot. Angry and more angry and then deranged for another six years. Hopefully the same thing happens to Hoyer. POLITICS AIN'T BEANBAG ANYMORE AFTER KLINK PAVED THE ROAD FOR THE OBAMA ARMY. And Hoyer helped Klink spread the hot asphalt with both hands.

I'll never understand why our leadership class wants to die in office. For crying out loud, they're all so rich. Retire to your palatial estates already!

There needs to be a top age limit on politicians to include enough time left on the clock to bear witness to the consequences of their policies.

Just think. He has been in Congress 1 year longer (43 years) in his lifespan than he was not in Congress (42).

Could this be a problem?

Yes. It is a bad problem. With both parties.

We need to stop electing people who should have had the sense to retire 20 years ag0.

I have always preach the importance of always putting up an opponent no matter how unlikely you will win. I don’t know the political makeup of the district or the pre-election rules on vacancies, but Michelle could waltz into Congress.

Democratic Member of Congress Steny Hamilton Hoyer
• FEC H2MD05155; 30 Jun 24; Tot $1,451,236; Dsb $1,391,283

Republican Michelle Talkington
• FEC H4MD05219; 30 Jun 24; Tot $10,198; Dsb $7,015

“I don’t know the political makeup of the district or the pre-election rules on vacancies, but Michelle could waltz into Congress.”

The political makeup of the district is D+15 with tons of white collar welfare animals (i.e. government “workers”). Trump will be lucky to break 30% there.

Hoyer could croak, not be replaced on the ballot, and Talkington would still get crushed even by (D) write-in votes.
