A longtime Maryland Democrat and one of the longest-serving members in Congress survived a stroke over the weekend his team announced Tuesday.
Rep. Steny Hoyer, 85, has represented Maryland in Congress since first being elected in 1981.
'On Sunday night, August 11, Rep. Steny Hoyer experienced a mild ischemic stroke and sought medical treatment,' Hoyer spokesperson Margaret Mulkerrin wrote in a statement.

Feinstein and Biden being fine examples….
Came in with Schumer and Grassley. These people never go away.
That lady is no lady!
435 House members. It’s easy to hide out, go along, and keep getting reelected. Especially when your district has been gerrymandered to make it impossible for the opposition party to beat you.
Frigging Dingell monarchy in that district. And an absolute disgrace. But the voters keep electing them so….
When is the last time someone thought something good about Diane Feinstein, Edward Kennady, John McCain, Arlin Spector, etc.?
As Frank used to say: “The Lady Is A Tramp!”
Wish I could feel bad for him but I don’t, these older democrats should have been holding some sort of sanity in their party instead all they cared about was enriching themselves TO HELL WITH THE COUNTRY!!
Wish the bastard had been in the senate with Menendez gone would have been a win for us!!!
Never heard of him.
He needs to retire.
Term limits need to be instituted.

Old Dems don’t need to have a working brain. Look at Diane, Joe, and Nancy. They just need to be on a respirator. And have an aid tell them which button to push.
If the story is accurate and he had a TIA, look it up, they can be relatively minor.
I was diagnosed with a tiny TIA late last Summer. I ref high school volleyball. I got off the stand and could hardly walk to the break room without falling down like a stumbling drunkard.
It also came with EXTREME fatigue. It took several months re regain a good sense of balance. I’ve recovered, but it was weird for this 71 year-old guy.
And in that fatigue and the fatigue due to androgen deprivation therapy for my metastatic prostate cancer, and it gets more tiring to walk for much of a long distance.
Fortunately, I’ve recovered and never lost any mental dexterity.
BERNIE SANDERS NEVER HAD A PRIVATE SECTOR JOB, EITHER.
Now he can be president.
Well, The Daily Male occasionally prints news of Joy from the “Heels Up” Harris cam pain.
Okay. But, if it’s a really old democrat, how can you tell if he’s had a stroke?
