Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) says former President Trump should stop questioning the size of Vice President Harris’s crowds at her campaign rallies and instead focus on her as a candidate.
“You’ve got to make this race not on personalities,” McCarthy said Monday in an interview on Fox News. “Stop questioning the size of her crowds and start questioning her position, when it comes to: What did she do as [California] attorney general on crime? … What did she do when she was supposed to take care of the border as a czar?”
The former Speaker said Trump should also hit Harris on inflation, noting she was the tiebreaking vote on key legislation that has come to define the Biden-Harris administration. He also urged Trump to attack Harris for changing her position on certain policy views in the last couple of years.

Is Trump president right now?
One way or the other he lost.
You’re arguing that his campaign can make every mistake, that supporters all over the country are seeing, because he can do no wrong and it doesn’t matter?
A lot of this basic stuff matters. And ignoring it matters.
I know absolute conservative Trump lovers who are telling me he’s going to lose it’s all over.
You think that means they aren’t real supporters. You’re mistaken. They are just upset.
Trump is pointing out the obvious as he well should. Are we the people really to believe that Harris, who has had a LOWER approval than Joe all these years, suddenly is ‘beating’ Trump and has crowds of thousands? Trump is correct to point out there is clearly no one at the airport; let alone the fact that thousands of people would never be cleared to be on a secure tarmac anyway.
I haven’t seen anything definitive one way or another on whether that was a hoax or not, but we all know Kamala’s crowds are being exaggerated. They’re using a combination of grifting off the draw from musical acts to paying people to show up. That’s worth commenting on.
As with many “outrageous” claims Trump makes, they have the effect of starting a conversation about a topic the media refuses to cover. In the media’s desperate attempts to disprove his claims, they end up highlighting them instead and more often than not, they’re the ones who end up being discredited, not Trump. Trump has been using that tactic ever since he entered politics, and to great effect.
There really isn’t much of a way to stop them. The duel is sort-of, passé.
This is the advantage of secret talking points and clandestine collusion with a partisan press - something the Right is, apparently, unable to do.
ROFL! Throw a rock into a pack of unhelpful wish-it-wasnt-trumper dogs, and the most sensitive beyotch in the pack yelps LOUD!
>> do you want to win or just rant against anyone who is concerned with the campaign
Oh, I assure you, I want to WIN! But I can BOTH “want to win” AND “rant against the pearl clutchers like you” speaking FAILURE into President Trump’s campaign. Pretending that it’s one or the other is a false dichotomy. You can look that up if you failed high school debate, which it appears you did.
>> During this time, Trump should be bla bla bla yadda yadda YADDA! bla bla bla bla
Oh, put a sock in it. I’m with the other poster on this thread that suggested that President Trump has forgotten more about messaging than you’ll ever know. I trust Trump and his team far more than I trust a bunch of lowlifes like you that tried their best to pull the rug out from under him and now just can’t... quite... find it in themselves to truly support him.
>> People are upset that he is squandering the good will he gained after surviving assassination
“Squandering the good will he gained by surviving assassination?” What the hell? For that nasty. hateful, disgusting and blatantly FALSE comment, Williams, you can GFY, long and hard, with something painful. You’re a despicable piece of work.
“Trump and Vance need to focus on the high level issues and dirty work.”
Victor Davis Hanson said the same thing yesterday, only much more harshly. It will be hard for PDJT because he’s triggered by the minutiae and can’t not respond. He’s very afraid Trump will blow it if he doesn’t focus.
Vance tries his best to stick to the big issues, but the media drags him down into the weeds to thwart him from getting out the message. (e.g.,, Dana Bash focusing on the cat lady comment to run out the clock on JDV’s segment.)
“I think so many are saying it that Trump and his advisors are hearing it.”
Trump has been getting good advice on controlling his mouth for years and hasn’t followed. Why on earth did he have to compare his crowd sizes with those of Martin Luther King?
This is truly Trump’s election to lose. I want him to be my president, but can he get there?
So, Trump takes a 20 sec jab at Harris about the size of her rallies, in a 90 min to 2 hour speech, and McHardly considers that ‘focusing’ and a distraction. He’s not watching Trump rallies. Gets his talking points every AM.
President Trump would not say that Harris should be disqualified, if he was not 100% sure the photo was fake and clear election interference.
“you could park your car in there”
>>”You’re arguing that his campaign can make every mistake, that supporters all over the country are seeing, because he can do no wrong and it doesn’t matter?”
No, that’s not what I’m arguing. That’s your characterization, not mine, and as I pointed out in my last comment, not preventing the 2020 steal and campaign messaging are two separate topics, so I suggest we stick to one topic at a time.
What I’m arguing is that when Trump’s supporters criticize Trump for poor messaging, 95% of the time, they’re wrong and he’s right. It’s happened over and over again and yet so many critics still think they know better than he does. All you have to do is go back a few months to when so many around her were saying that Trump was foolish for agreeing to the CNN debate. Well it turns out that Trump’s judgement was superior to theirs.
But here, I think he's hit on something that has always bothered me about Trump- sometimes he gets fixated on things which really aren't that relevant, and they usually have to do with things that point to his ego. Crowd sizes, poll numbers, endorsements tend to occupy a lot of his talks, when the time could be spent better on pointing out the differences and the failures of the Democrats.
I generally figure you have to take the good with the bad, and in the long run, the good is very far ahead.
He is not wrong.
Actually, yes. Hit her on policies.
Simple part of campaigning imho. He talks plenty about what he’s done as Pres and now takes some time to rag on Harris’ crowds? They do this to Trump every event even when his crowds are tens of thousands deep.
Republicans cannot stop Dems from lying, but they can speak out to inform Americans of what is actually in the Democrats border bill. Instead, they just let the lies pass
Trump needs to stick to the issues and nothing but the issues. If he can find it himself to this he will win hands down.
The size of Kamala’s crowds are not one of the issues.
McCarthy is 100% correct. Trump is beclowning himself. Almost EVERYBODY thinks the talk about crowd size is a stupid distraction.
