Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-VA) suffered defeat in the recount for his June primary, making him the first House Republican incumbent to lose a primary challenge this election cycle.

Good lost the recount to John McGuire, a former Navy SEAL, who won the primary by just 374 votes. The recount, which began Thursday morning, narrowed the race by just four votes with Good losing by 370.

Trump backed the winner.

This was the dope who endorsed Ron DeSantis in the primaries. Trump supported his challenger.

He should quit politics just for being a moron.

I generally like to see incumbents lose.

As many become to secure in their positions.

Best post on the thread. It has my opinion of Congress trending in a positive direction for, I believe, the first time in my life time.

I read the article after reading your post, and learned a little bit more about the Freedom Caucus.

After Good endorsed DeSantis, one Freedom Caucus member endorsed Good’s opponent and was booted from the Caucus (presumably primarily courtesy of Good) for his pains.

One of the Caucus members (not two or more, but then again, not none) resigned from Caucus.

It is possible that, provided the challenger who defeated Good wins the seat, which seems likely the 435 members of Congress may have more men of at least decent integrity as the Supreme Court (which has Thomas and Alito).

If so, that will make two more than the Senate.

It also, for the first time in a long time, raises my estimation of the quality of Congress, which had been so low that the country song “From the Gutter to you Ain’t Up” applied. Likely it still applies, but the trend is good (or rather, given the primary result, the trend is not Good, but that’s good.)

Second best post on the thread. I see that while composing my verbose response, some one else scooped me on the low-lying pun.

Of course, when Congress is involved, their is a lot of low-lying stuff. Combined, in an unfortunate way, with black-tie affairs.

Beer could chase our blues away, and if it did so sufficiently, there would be enough for the horses. Cheers to Garth and Toby. Too bad Trump didn’t choose either Chad Brock or Buddy Brown for VP.

That is politics. He bet on the wrong horse in an attempt to further his ambitions. We all saw that video where he thought he was talking in private and revealed his attitude toward Trump. He sounded like Nikki Haley.

Especially when they go against the trend of the most people supported.

Good wanted to be Batman in changing the direction of the news

People forget Good trashed Trump in that video you mentioned in your post.
Good riddance to Good.

$36,000,000,000,000 in national debt and congress put every dime of it on the population. Redistribution of wealth (debt) to which they don’t own a penny.

I should have known.

Unfortunately Trump’s peeps don’t always apply the best criteria...

Trump may end up regretting his endorsement of McGuire. Kevin McCarthy was the money man behind McGuire’s campaign. He is now in debt to the RINO’s. He may very well be another Dan Crenshaw. I have met McGuire several times and he seemed narcissistic and inauthentic. I could be wrong, I don’t think so this time.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen across the country incumbents lose and democrats end up winning in the general. Not 100 percent, but definitely happens.

It’s always interesting to observe the aftermath of incumbents losing: genuine public servants go home, renew their ties to their community, and get on with their life while the “self servants” stay in Washington and continue to whore themselves out to the highest bidder.

This guy bad mouthed President Trump. He lied about it. Then he continued to lie when shown video proof. https://youtube.com/shorts/5JaNbpUljBE?si=KJhgfaC9yylOw7pv

John McGuire is an honest to goodness Navy SEAL.
Bob Good brags about picnicking with the Campbell County Militia.
