Vice President Harris implored Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday to accept a cease-fire deal that would pause the fighting in Gaza and release hostages, as U.S. leaders say they are closer than ever to an agreement.
“Let’s get the deal done so we can get a cease-fire to end the war,” she told reporters in brief remarks after her bilateral meeting with Netanyahu at the White House. “Let’s bring the hostages home, and let’s provide much-needed relief to the Palestinian people.”
Harris’s decision to give her full backing for the deal and explain its general outline appeared designed to add pressure on Israel and Hamas to close the remaining gaps in reaching an agreement to at least temporarily end more than nine months of conflict.
That it was the vice president, not President Biden, giving public remarks after they each held bilateral meetings with the Israeli leader reflected how much has changed in Washington in recent days. Biden announced Sunday he was exiting the presidential race; by Tuesday, Harris had become the likely Democratic nominee.
In her remarks, Harris reiterated that she remains a firm backer of Israel, reflecting on collecting money to plant trees in Israel as a young girl, while also expressing serious concern about some of Israel’s conduct in its unrelenting military campaign in Gaza.

They’ve been calling for this since last October.
Netanyahu had to leave thinking “Golda Meir, she ain’t.”
Lipstick - pig!!!!
What does President Biden have to say or was he too tired to meet with Bibi?
Well, if Harris called for that…..
But no call for a ceasefire in Ukraine, you’ll note.
Golly gee, wonder why.
Oh cool so Hamas stays in power then..I didnt see anything from Harris in regards to Hamas..do they get to stay in power and in a few years attack Israel all over again

What a dumbass she is. It’s not up to Netanyahu to accept a cease fire and pause the fighting. Hamas terrorists not only started this fight, they continue to instigate it.
Bibi has no choice but to stay on the defensive.
They met. Joe looked really confused in the still shots I saw. Like “I remember King Charles as being taller.” confused.
Doc had bizarre exchange with reporters

She’s not the president! Or is she???
Is Biden even conscious? Not comatose?
I’ve kind of accepted that he’s alive or Kamala would already have been sworn in, but who really knows.
She is already headed in a dangerous direction. Someone obviously did not brief her about being loyal to the MIC first and foremost. They are not going to like this option at all.
There are no hostages alive. I would nuke the bug hole.
Holding hostages is against international law.
It is a war crime.
Don’t expect war criminals to honor contracts.
All the sucking up to muslims heel's up harris does on while on her
knee pads wouldn't save her if parachuted into gaza.
His doctor reminds me of Elton John in his younger years…same smile, hair and body shape….like a walking pear.
I do wonder about that very possibility.
I also wonder if (if) those hostages that might just be alive could relate such awful and horrific tales of treatment that release might be, so very sadly, unlikely.
Don't know, of course, but concerned for them and fams.
One can only hope that when election 2024 is over, that Harris will get her ass swiftly kicked back to California, finding that her political career is indeed over. There’s not too many powerful California politicians she can service to get her career going again.
I listened. I think she called for a unilateral withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. Was I wrong?
