A woman could not believe her eyes when she saw how much it would cost her to buy a fast food meal for her family as inflation chokes people across Democrat President Joe Biden’s America.
The woman, identified as Josie, posted a video on TikTok after she pulled up in the fast food joint’s drive-thru lane to choose what she wanted from the menu, the Daily Dot reported Sunday.
“I remember when a 12-piece family meal was $12.99. Now it’s $43.00,” she said in the video. The caption of the video read, “I did not buy. I went home and made dinner. I was not going to get ripped off”:

That is not what they said, instead the told this whopper:
"California-based El Pollo Locos are raising prices significantly because of the minimum wage increase in the chain’s home state."
About a week ago, I was in Costco and saw those rotisserie chickens for $5. We changed our dinner plans that night. It fed me and my husband 3 times. First night was chicken with rice and gravy and broccoli. Two days later it was shredded chicken on a salad loaded with other yummy fixings. The third meal we used it in chicken quesadillas. That was a helluva deal. Next time I go to Costco, I’m going to do that again.

A restaurant that we go to had started adding a 3% “surcharge” rather than raising its prices. (???) We figured it was due mostly to the increasing mandatory minimum wage ($15). Some food costs too perhaps. Anyway, I saw that too late, but told my wife “Next time I’m reducing the tip by 3%.”
A few weeks later was back in there, and the “surcharge” was gone. My wife looked it up on their website and too many people had complained. Perhaps their waiters also complained!
I didn’t notice if they had raised their prices - I don’t think they did. Yet.
I don’t eat fast food but it doesn’t seem unreasonable to pay $43.00 for a chicken dinner that feeds 5-6 people.

I’ve always thought Taco Bell was by far the worst food value in fast food. Even before these recent price bumps, I could eat four things there @ $3.99 each and feel like I ate nothing.

I am in Arizona, the prices here are up, but not that much.
I understand there are some good specials in New Mexico at “Pollos Hermanos”.

El Polo uses birds that can’t weigh more than 2.5 pounds. The legs and thighs are small. Don’t even get me started on the size of the wings there. I’d say four adult appetites. Probably can stretch it to 5 if a couple young kids are in the mix.

Here in Newport Beach, CA you can get a burger and fries for 14.99 and sit right at the waterfront, in a restaurant with servers to take your order and bring your food to your table, not a fast food place. I guess it’s not as expensive here as people think!

Mr. RightField and I used to do almost exactly the same ... but we would also pull off the skin and bake them until crispy (no carb crunchy snacks) and then put the remains into a crockpot, cover with water and cook for 48 hours on low. Have you seen the prices of purchased bone broth lately? Full disclosure: we preferred the Sam’s Club chickens. Either way, you can’t get much more out of $5 than those rotisserie chickens.
It comes out the same either way....SLOW & LOW makes great PULL APART pork sandwiches, after main meal.
I use a LONG Meat FORK to test if it is done-—along with the status of the BONE-—only ONE. When that bone is loose, it gets pulled & put into sink to cool for the dog. HE is under my feet by that time.
I use Lawry’s salt—garlic salt—celery salt—DRY ONION BITS—and water to about 1 inch from the top. Makes great gravy.
Good to know about Sam’s also being good. I forgot to mention about the bone broth aspect, too. I can make some decent gravy from those drippings that are at the bottom. (My husband calls me the gravy queen!)
I only bought a Costco membership a year ago. There was one built a lot closer to me than where the others are in Indy, and this new one is very nice. Always busy. Sam’s is another 15 minutes further from the already 20 minute drive to Costco, so it always depends on whether I have other errands that far. I don’t let my gas go to waste. We have come a long way from when you could get 5 burgers for a dollar. 4 burgers if you wanted onion and tomato on them.
I saw an old movie DIVORCE AMERICAN STYLE(1967) in which Dick Van Dyke goes to McDonalds, places an order and receives...”One double meat cheeseburger, fries and a coke. That will be 57 cents please.”
I went to Walmart last week and noticed their roast chicken was actually cheaper than their whole raw chickens! So I bought two! Just finished the last one up.
Soak the pork overnight in mojo and sour oj. Then lots of onion and garlic, ymmmmmm.
Next day, slice roast and sweet ham on sweet bread, mustard and mayo, cover with swiss cheese, then melt.
It’s called a media noche= midnight sandwich
