VIDEO — ‘I Went Home and Made Dinner’: Woman Shocked by $43 Price for El Pollo Loco Meal amid Inflation
Breitbart ^ | 07/08/2024 | Amy Furr

A woman could not believe her eyes when she saw how much it would cost her to buy a fast food meal for her family as inflation chokes people across Democrat President Joe Biden’s America.

The woman, identified as Josie, posted a video on TikTok after she pulled up in the fast food joint’s drive-thru lane to choose what she wanted from the menu, the Daily Dot reported Sunday.

“I remember when a 12-piece family meal was $12.99. Now it’s $43.00,” she said in the video. The caption of the video read, “I did not buy. I went home and made dinner. I was not going to get ripped off”:

I love beef, elk that I shoot, beef comes from the field I see from the window and fruit. Seasonal fruit or canned that was done by myself or some Mennonites up the road.

It’s the way.

To be fair, it’s been well over $20 for a long time. That $12 price probably goes back to the 90’s. Still high of course now, but this is misleading.

Going in frozen makes it not fall apart though right? When I do pulled pork, it has to be thawed out first.

Crockpots are great though.

I’m far more likely to pass through small town Texas then anything urban. I’m Albertan, and very rural. I like to see how my cousins do things too.

Most Texans that come through on their way to Alaska are usually staring around with mouths hanging open lol. We are hard rednecks up here and more guns per capita in this part of Alberta than there are in Texas. We’re savages, but we love freedom, we love real Americans, and we strongly dislike gov. Pretty much any gov lol.

Popeye's (the best FF chicken in these parts) is $27.00 for 8 pieces, red beans and rice, and 8 biscuits.

The same meal from Publix (almost as good) is just under $20.00....

Right?!

Cooking from scratch is not hard and it's so much better for you.

I'm kind of a peasant food fan - the more basic the better. Tonight I'm going to saute - yes, saute a head of romaine with garlic, spices, throw in some corn, beans, taco sauce. Instant taco salad without the carb overload tortilla and fat-laced hamburger meat (which I love but I can do without)

I think reports need to be more specific than simply “Biden”.

Top of the list is the fraudulent Inflation Reduction Act. Billions that are borrowed and spent on green nonsense and gifts to politically connected continue to pour into the economy, while Mr. and Mrs. Average struggle.

Next is the bilions borrowed and funneled down the zelinsky rabbit hole in a losing proxy war. A gift to MIC while Mr. and Mrs. Average struggle.

Next are the billions borrowed and spent to facilitate the illegal invasion and finance the foreign freeloaders. Also a gift to the religious charities and landlords who pocket some serious cash while Mr. and Mrs Average struggle.

The congress and alphabet agencies shoulder the lions share of the blame here. Not defending biden-harrisw but they couldn’t do it without the willing help of elected and unelected people

The LA-Mex restaurant increased prices to combat labor costs. California-based El Pollo Locos are raising prices significantly because of the minimum wage increase in the chain’s home state. The company expects wage inflation to skyrocket between 12% and 14%. In addition, locations are implementing kiosks to reduce labor costs.

What a bunch of malarky. Labor goes up 12 - 14 % but prices more than doubled almost tripled? LOL. When is the Marxist revolution going to start because lies like this is what starts them.

I quit buying fast food a year ago. The prices are ridiculous.

Normally, my wife and I avoid fast food places, preferring mom and pop small restaurants. But our daughter and family were staying with us in California from Iowa, and the grandkids like fast food. Yeah, prices are ridiculous.

We had one clerk at a cafe apologize to us last week when presenting the check "Is this okay with you?" because of the high cost including tip and tax. Joe Biden's inflation has gotten to the point where clerks apologize to customers for rip-off prices!

Oh well, time for me to go on a diet anyway.

That is just wage inflation, you gotta add in food cost inflation, utility inflation, and maintenance inflation. Inflation is hitting all expense line items of a companies P&L.

“This shocked idiot voted Democrat... Ten bucks on it..”

Wrong. A Democrat would have bought it instead of cooking dinner.

Sure enough, $43.99 in the app. 12 pieces mixed, and three large sides. $38.99 for Legs and Thighs only. 16 piece mixed $50. There are some discounts in the app but $5 and $6 off is still a big bill.

Our local Albertsons Grocery has 8 mixed pieces of fried for normally $8.99. This lady could get 16 pieces for $18. A can of decent biscuits $3, A box of mashed potatoes, $3. A bag of shredded Cabbage to doctor up for Cole slaw for $2. $26 in total. Feeds six easy. Half of what El Polo Loco wants for 16 piece family meal before discounts if you happen to have the app on your phone. And you pay tax on to go food, not at the grocery store, at least in Kalifornia. So that that $50 El Polo price is $54+ after tax.

I think a good value if you just are out of time to make it at home and like Popeyes is in the app there is a $12.99 deal called 2 can dine. One breast, one thigh, one wing and two legs. 2 small sides and 2 biscuits. For the two of us it is plenty of food, especially after putting together a dinner salad. Usually a couple of pieces of chicken left over to snack on as well. So two of those for $26 + tax would feed 4. (I’m not 100% sure you can order 2)
