Informed Delivery is an existing free service provided by the USPS. If you go to their home page, you can see the service mentioned near the middle-right side of the page. After you create an account, each morning you are sent an email that tells you how many pieces of mail you will receive that day, including packages. It then shows photos of the pieces to be delivered. It does not provide Sunday service.
This service is not new. It's been around since 2017, but I was unaware of it. It could be especially useful for people who often have misdirected mail or "porch pirate" problems.
Our regular mailman is wonderful. I can always tell when he has a day off. That’s when we get mail for neighbors who live on the next block over.
The junk mail that pays the bills for USPS was called 3rd class once, then it became bulk mail or BBM, bulk business mail, next it became standard mail and then it changed to Marketing Mail.
USPS exists because the businesses that send paper advertising material
want it too and because of their monopoly on first class mail and the legal requirement that paper bills and statements of account be sent by first class.
Those advertising companies would not be happy if USPS threw away their adverts, lol.
Several entrepreneurs tried offering that service, either picking up customer mail at the post office or having it sent to them at customer request and then filtering out the junk.
USPS threatened dire consequences and so far has stifled all such schemes.
it will not show most packages that are delivered by the USPS. Most mail it is correct, I’ve seen a few hiccups, but in general it is a decent tool.
No it isn’t.
Tracking
Just like cell phones
I’ve had it for years. It’s pretty good as it also automatically tracks outbound packages too.. You can see when they are delivered.
Yes it is. Not tracking. You’re just spreading dumb lies.
Cellphones are another matter entirely.
Exactly.
Expecting a check in the mail, showed up on the computer but not in the mailbox, went to PO, they do not like this service, they wish they could stop it and they CAN’T help you if it is lost, nor did it seem like they wanted to try.
I had this happen with my car title. Since USPS showed it had been delivered to my mailbox, the state decided I 'lost' it and made me pay for a second one. USPS did nothing to investigate.
ACTUALLY-—THE COUNTY ASSESSOR GAVE OUT THE PARCEL NUMBERS & has a hand in this “DUPLICATION”.
Contact your County to get it fixed.
Developer MAY have to pay for ‘notifications’ , ETC.
FOR A TON of legal reasons, you want to FIX this.
Could really screw up a will for heirs or if you wish to sell, etc.
AMAZON gets a reduced rate for everything that goes by USPS.
A very healthy one.
LOL.
The pics are taken when scanned for sorting.
It has no bearing whatsoever on whether it got to your mailbox.
Ask me how I know: Our carriers are stoned idiots.
It was when my last credit card expired - which I never received; gee...wonder why /s - that it exposed another idiocy:
Credit cards are now being mailed FULLY ACTIVATED
Five mile round trip for me to go to my PO Box....this could save some time and fuel.
Who do you bank with? I have never received an activated credit card. I have to activate online with QR code, or by phone.
Last week we got our new Citi CCs. Had to activate.
Not relevant - nor was it one of the ‘big 3’ - but it was a Visa.
I checked with the guys I work with and they all concurred (though I neglected to ask which cards):
CCs are now being mailed activated.
Waiting to see if my Citi card in 2027 will be pre-activated or not.
That’s good to hear. Hopefully my new one - ostensibly in 2027 - will require the same.
I just got my renewal citi card for Costco and it was definitely not pre activated. Hmmmm
Your information is collected and stored.
Just like cell phones.
Mine shows every package
