A pair of climate protesters was arrested Wednesday after allegedly spraying the Stonehenge monument in England with orange paint, according to local authorities.
The protesters, from the group Just Stop Oil, sprayed the monument with orange paint Wednesday, one day ahead of the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, the environmental activist group said in a statement on the social platform X.
The two individuals were “demanding the incoming government sign up to a legally binding treaty to phase out fossil fuels by 2030,” Just Stop Oil said.
Wiltshire Police told The Associated Press (AP) the two protesters were arrested near Salisbury, England, on suspicion of damaging one of the world’s most famous prehistoric monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

These people have no respect and need a long vacation in a real prison.
These people have no respect for society and need a long vacation in a real prison. It’s past time these people were punished enough to stop these actions.
Police need to tase them a few times before they arrest them. I also like the hand grip some countries use.
You won’t stop these idiots unless you take drastic — and some would say ‘inhumane’ — actions.
I stubbed my toe this morning . It was either Trump’s or China’s fault !
Don’t put them in jail. Deposit them on an island where nothing exists that is powered by, made from, or transported by any use of fossil fuel.
Except for maybe a couple of hidden webcams so we can watch and laugh.
How about Snake Island?
You would think that it would be important to a reporter to find out where these greenies get their funding/orders from. But not for journalists who are busy propagating agendas.
It’s time to put a bounty on these people and let the world take care of them.
No doubt their Chinese MSS handlers were unhappy with the results.
—
It would be the PAP - Peoples Armed Police (a division of the MSS) that would do the handling.
with orange paint,

It was actually a sticky powder, not paint.
Some people just deserve a good beating.
Getting paint out of stone is very difficult.
The restorer has a real problem. If sufficient detergents and scrubbing are applied to remove the paint, it will also remove the patina, which is part of the stone and develops over hundreds of years. The surface of the stone reacts with the environment and changes gradually to a hydrated layer mixed with environmental dust and soot. If this layer is removed, stone has been removed.
And once the patina has been removed from one area, that area will no longer match. The restorer then has to choose between leaving the unmatched area, or applying a false patina to blend it in. But then you are painting Stonehenge! Surely that can’t be the right thing to do.
You know, that’s my thought on all those “No fossil fuel” types.
Pick an island, uninhabited, but with a suitable climate for growing food. Provide seed, some farm animals, and perhaps some tools. No steel, though. It’ll need to be handcrafted wood and stone.
Drop them on it. Nothing goes with them that needed fossil fuels. They can make their own utopia without it. After a year in their paradise, we can see if they are ready to rejoin society as productive member.
They are typically the ignorant spoiled brats of the rich and famous.
The two protesters involved are Niamh Lynch, a 21-year-old student from Oxford, and Rajan Naidu, 73, of Birmingham, England, according to the group....
