Ukraine is a gold mine US senator

Allowing a Russian victory in the conflict would deprive America of access to vast mineral resources, Lindsey Graham says

In an interview with 'Face the Nation' on CBS on Sunday, Graham accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of being a "megalomaniac" who is attempting to "re-create the Russian Empire by force of arms," starting with Ukraine. He further claimed that if Moscow wins the current conflict, it will then take over Ukraine's wealth and share it with China. Graham described that prospect as "ridiculous," suggesting it would be better if this "gold mine" were available to the US instead.

"They're sitting on 10 to $12 trillion of critical minerals in Ukraine. They could be the richest country in all of Europe... If we help Ukraine now, they can become the best business partner we ever dreamed of, that $10 to $12 trillion of critical mineral assets could be used by Ukraine and the West, not given to Putin and China," Graham stated.

“Faggot Traitor, Illegal Alien Smuggler, Linda Grahamnesty.”

Pretty harsh considering your Putin was in before Lindsey.

For Russia it also involves the all important geography, they want the coast line and ports, and as much population as possible as well for not only wealth but for growth and positioning.

I think William Randolph Hearst's father may have been one.

Wasn’t Afghanistan supposed to be fabulously full of rare earth metals and other mineral treasures and that was one reason we should keep fighting there endlessly to to prop up a non-existent friendly military and government?

All of Ukraine’s riches—if given freely to us—is only a third our total debt.

I don’t believe a word of what Graham is saying.

So is that “goldmine” going to give us back all the tax dollars we’ve been sending over there? Of course not, it’s gonna go In their pockets.

Behind all of the excuses and rationalizations, I believe Putin’s war is simply a war of conquest and greed.

Ego and human nature say he simply wants the wealth of Ukraine, specifically the rich petroleum and mineral wealth that lies below the surface.

And, he also doesn’t want competition from Ukraine for Russia’s oil and natural gas sales to Europe and elsewhere.

And so, because it’s easier to get forgiven than it is to get permission, the simplest way for Putin to satisfy his ego’s desires is to come up with some rationalizations to invade Ukraine and then just take what he wants.

It is what it is. Just ego and human nature acting out, Putin style.

As I noted above, quoting from the World Statistical Report of Energy — the bible of oil/energy for 70 years from BP

UKRAINE HAS NO OIL ABOVE THE CUTOFF

The cutoff is a paltry 300 million barrels. Anything below that doesn’t even get mentioned in the spreadsheet. They don’t have 300 million, they have some number less.

They have nearly no nat gas, but they did make the list at 1 trillion cubic meters. This is nearly nothing. The US burns 900 billion cubic meters/year.

They have coal. Nothing else.

If a report says Russia has control of 60% of their oil, that’s 60% of nothing.

There’s Nothing There.

In the world of oil and gas you must understand numbers.

The US burns 20 million barrels/day. China 15ish. World is 100 million barrels/day.

X 365 = US 7.3 BILLION barrels/year. China 5.5 BILLION barrels/year. World 36.5 BILLION barrels/year.

So if Ukraine’s reserves do not even cross the 300 million threshold you are talking about not even surpassing NOTHINGNESS. 300 million barrels is 0.8% of world annual consumption — and Ukraine did not even make the list with a 300 million barrel minimum. They have less than that.

They Have Nothing.

If the “gold mine” narrative doesn’t work they will switch back to “Russia will conquer Europe.”
