He died. He was 90 years old.
What was he doing with a Pilots License at that age?

Think about it. He is not piloting for hire. It is, or was, a free country. I have two friends pushing 80 that do quite well with their aircraft. One of them has a high speed Moody she flies everywhere. The other is a guy that just built his second experimental which he just got pontoon qualified.

Anders, Lovell and Borman circled the Moon for the first time at Christmas Eve 1968 and read from the Bible: “in the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth . . .’. I will never forget it, riding as a passenger in my family car driving to spend Christmas Day with a brother at a military base before heading for the VN War. God Bless and Godspeed William Anders; from that three man crew, he follows Borman. Lovell is still alive, all got past 90 years old!

He used to fly it with the USAF heritage flights at airshows. I think he retired from that but not from sport flying his P-51. He was my boss of bosses when I worked at Convair.:

Just read that it was his T-34A that went in.

I was so inspired by that Apollo 8 Christmas Eve broadcast that it started my career in aerospace via the USAF.

He was the CEO of General Dynamics when I was working at Convair many years ago.

He has now returned to the heavens.
