Top Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin argued in the New York Times this week that Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito could, in theory, be forced to step down from cases related to the January 6 Capitol riots.
In a guest essay for the New York Times on Wednesday, Raskin detailed ways Thomas and Alito could be forced to recuse themselves from the upcoming Trump v. United States and Fischer v. United States, both involving former President Trump's role during the Capitol protests.
"Of course, Justices Alito and Thomas could choose to recuse themselves — wouldn’t that be nice? But begging them to do the right thing misses a far more effective course of action," Raskin wrote.
Alito and Thomas, both nominated by Republican presidents and part of the Supreme Court's conservative wing, have come under fire from Democrats and mainstream media in recent months over claims that they cannot objectively rule on matters around Jan. 6.

Rats like to throw their weight around, and pretend they have powers they don’t. They also like to change the rules to meet a certain political need. Then when that rule comes back to bite them, they claim the rule is unfair, and want to change it again.
The democrats already sent a message with their assassin being sent to Kavenaugh’s house. And Shumer told the swamp enemies what will happen if they cross the bureaucrats. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are no knock 6am raids by the FBI against either justice in the coming weeks. Or some antifa thugs to send a message. The democrats are on a warpath and they taste blood. And they rightly know, no one will stop them, politically.
Right now Alito and Roberts are looking for the big ole middle finger emoji . . .

Co-equal branches of government, President cannot order SCOTUS around and certainly a lowly subordinate to POTUS (DOJ) cannot.
Reading your response, I reminded of everyone chanting in unison that Obamacare was unconstitutional - and then Roberts called it a Tax to
Save it, even though Obama and all his peeps repeatedly said it wasn’t a Tax. Everyone was shocked.
Things are rarely simple in DC.
Jamie Raskin thinks he can round up conservatives and send them to death camps too. He’s an effing assh*le.
Me too!
Well, they have demonstrated aplenty they do not care for justice or fairness in order to achieve their political goals.
“Things are rarely simple in DC.”
The only things simple in DC are the simpletons that run it and the simpletons that voted for it.
There are 3 separate branches of government for this very reason, Thomas and Alito will tell these bastards to POUND SAND, they DO NOT have control over the SCOTUS!!!
Raskin is a known imbecile.
Given how Trump was just "convicted" of fake crimes by a fake court presided over by a fake judge, of course there is. But someone has to initiate something like that and if you think the UniParty's going to do that you're dreaming.
The Spanish Inquisition was made possible by fusing prosecutorial and judicial power. Torture was SOP at that time, and also made possible the same way.
The idea of DOJ dictating to the highest court is not only appalling, but harkens back to that dark period of jurisprudence, is a step towards it.
LOL! Nope. There is simply no mechanism for doing so. This is just Democrat wishful-thinking.
Slimey Ratskin
We’re awake. We have one last chance to resolve this peacefully in November. If the Uniparty won’t allow that to happen then secession is the logical next step. For those of you living in blue states, I don’t know what to tell you. Do what you can or move out. Those of us in red states need to march on our state capitols and insist on a formal withdrawal.
Roberts is a traitor
The court will not rule it is beholden to the executive.
They will go after any opposition, anybody who gets in their way. The democrat party really needs de-nazification.
I guess if they say it many, many times, they get people to believe it’s true, then it happens. They don’t care about separation of power. Just look at FJB’s student debt forgiveness. The SC said he couldn’t do it.
