On Wednesday’s broadcast of ABC’s “The View,” First Lady Jill Biden argued that companies like Target and Walmart are lowering prices because President Joe Biden told them to and he’ll continue to tell CEOs to lower their prices, but also stated that other companies like McDonald’s brought down their prices because “they’re responding to you” the customer, but “We can’t have this corporate greed.”

Biden said, “[I]t’s what Joe is doing. So, you’re right, inflation is down. But recently, he’s been meeting with CEOs of the major companies like Target and Walmart and grocery stores to say, you have to bring down these prices, and they’ve responded. They’ve responded, yes, it was just in The New York Times last week. So, he’s going to continue doing this, talking to CEOs, and, look, you probably heard last week, the head of McDonald’s said, we’re going to bring the prices down on the meals, and then, I think it was Burger King that said, okay, we’re going to do it too, because they’re responding to you. We can’t have this corporate greed. We have to get control of it. And so, Joe is working on that every single day, Joy, every day.”

On Memorial Day I cooked a pork loin, green beans, and oven-fried potatoes. We two will get 6 meals out of it, changing up the sides. And my BS stayed in the normal range instead of going up from eating hamburgers. and baked beans. No bread.

By with the exception of Doctors of Medicine and Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine), we typically refer to folks with advanced degrees as Mr. or Ms., rather than Doctor or Magister (for master's degree).

Many more examples exist. Physical therapists hold DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) degrees, and I've never had one introduce him, or herself as "doctor". If one holding a DPA degree (Doctor of Pubic Administration) introduced her or himself as "doctor", there might be muffled chuckling in the audience.

There are folks who aren't very competent at preparing meals ahead of time or a place to keep them when going between two jobs.

I knew one guy who was a very competent IT guy, but had been homeless due to health and personal problems (NOT street drugs or alcohol). So, he was living in his car (with his dog). So, he bought sandwich meat and bread at the Walmart, food he could microwave at work, but sometimes would hit the McDonald's or Wendy's for the value meal until the money came in and he could get settled. Some people aren't good at doing the planning/cooking thing, but can earn a living. (BTW, the fellow in question has been employed in my company for over a year and is doing much better now).

Earlier this week, I was in our local Walmart buying groceries and was aghast at the prices. Prices are rising, not falling.
