Former President Donald Trump this week named several possible picks for his running mate in the 2024 presidential election, which he said he would reveal "sometime during the [GOP] convention" in July.

The former president also declined to answer directly when asked about his top three contenders to serve as his running mate, but he did specifically mention Sens. JD Vance, R-Ohio, and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., as well as Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-NY, and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson as possible choices.
The convention begins July 15.

Pretty sure he is NOT NATURAL BORN CITIZEN
At least this time around, he knows who not to pick - hopefully!
My latest guess is that, first, Donald Trump picks New York or New Jersey as his place of residence. Second, he picks Governor Ron DeSantis to be his final choice for VP. Vivek will be Trumps’ choice for, either, the Department of Commerce, or for Press Secretary. Vivek is too politically inexperienced to be VP. I would prefer that Trump doesn’t choose his VP from anybody who is in political office/presently running for political office. Lee Zeldin from New York is the best choice for VP, IMHO.
No more Senators. They might get camera time, but there is no track record of actual accomplishment among them. We need a doer, not a talker.
Ask Tuco.
I’m hoping he picks her. She’s not afraid of a fight!
I may be old fashioned, but I’m not ready for a Hindu prez.
Natural born = native born. Some people may not like that, but it’s the reality of the situation.
It’s Dick Cheney. You heard it here first.
True if the running mate gets 270 from states other than Florida. As a practical matter, presidential candidates avoid the problem by choosing a running mate from a different state.
Or is it to support Zeldin in a run for Senator?? Governor?
Too bad the GOP is going first—or it would have been fun to announce it during the DNC’s show.
This is all moot. I don’t think Trump will pick DeSantis, Rubio or anyone else from The Sunshine State.
If he does - I’d look for Trump to declare residency in Texas or Jersey first.
I think it’s too soon for Vivek to be picked as VP, too. I’d like to see Trump create a deep state dismantlement czar and give Vivek that job.
At first many rejected Trump as uncouth (& still do). However, many have warmed up to him since. Some of our Founding Fathers were of other religions as well.
God sometimes uses people that man rejects. Substance before form.
What would happen if Trump got better than 270 votes, yet his Florida veep was disallowed the 30 votes and it left that person with less than 270?
I’m guessing the VP candidate with the majority of votes takes home the prize.
Unfortunately it matters. In 2000, if Dick Cheney were still a Texan instead of moving back to Wyoming, he would have failed to receive the requisite electoral votes to become VP. Joe Lieberman could have been elected VP instead... which, come to think of it, might have been an improvement. But I don’t think anyone wants to see Kamala Harris elected as VP for a Trump administration.
Both president and VP need 270, so the VP issue would go to the House for a vote.
In any case, why even risk it? If Trump wants Rubio, one of them will need to change residence.
See my question in post 55.
What if.... What if Cheney still had more electoral votes than Lieberman even though none of them would reach that magic 270 number?
Would Cheney have won based on the most votes?
“I’m hoping he picks her. She’s not afraid of a fight!”
True and she attacked Pelosi saying Pelosi was responsible for J6. She got Liz Cheney’s job, supported the obvious election fraud and just recently grilled university presidents about their inaction regarding Palestinian protesters and hatred toward Jews. She is smart and scrappy.
Ahh. You answered my question asked in post 58.
To the House for a vote. That could be bad.
