Unfortunately it matters. In 2000, if Dick Cheney were still a Texan instead of moving back to Wyoming, he would have failed to receive the requisite electoral votes to become VP. Joe Lieberman could have been elected VP instead... which, come to think of it, might have been an improvement. But I don’t think anyone wants to see Kamala Harris elected as VP for a Trump administration.

What if.... What if Cheney still had more electoral votes than Lieberman even though none of them would reach that magic 270 number?

Would Cheney have won based on the most votes?
