Former President Donald Trump this week named several possible picks for his running mate in the 2024 presidential election, which he said he would reveal "sometime during the [GOP] convention" in July.

The former president also declined to answer directly when asked about his top three contenders to serve as his running mate, but he did specifically mention Sens. JD Vance, R-Ohio, and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., as well as Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-NY, and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson as possible choices.

The convention begins July 15.

As I understand it, the electors could all vote for Trump and still be valid towards the 270 number.

It’s just that the VP electoral votes would not apply. So, no big deal.

Gotta be Vivek if Trump has any hope of carrying MAGA though 2028 and beyond.

Vivek is the ONLY one on the national stage who is talking about EXACLY what needs to be done to restore America’s Free Constitutional Republic: DISMANTLE THE 80%+, $3+ TRILLION UNCONSTITUTIONAL PORTION OF THE FEDS!!!!.

Who kisses his ass the most?

Likely only a weasel with no shame who works for the other team or someone who puts themselves over the country. And he's just egotistical enough to fall for it. Does anyone realize this is the LAST chance we have to save the country? And they STILL won't do what they need to do to save it. Neither will we. tRusT tHe PlAn!

But most likely, it's a moot point, because Trump blowing it the first time has made it impossible for him to take back the office that was stolen from him. They have perfected the steal, and they have EVERY tool at their disposal, like natural disaster machines, to demons posing as aliens, to getting us blown up by a russian or chinese missile, EMPs, bird flu, voting machines enhanced with AI...

$5 says it’s none of the above. It’ll be a choice from ‘left field’, that no one expects.

Just because she works tirelessly for Trump does not mean she has what it takes to step in and hit the ground running as the President of the most powerful country in the world. Seriously, you want Elise Stephanik one heart beat from the presidency? Uh, no.

Tradition would have him pick someone that his opponents loathe even more than him. That would be a very short list. All I can think of is Steven Miller, but that doesn’t seem very likely.

I agree with you

He is the most knowledgeable (apart from Ben Carson ) but unlike Carson (who I admire tremendously!!! And respect exponentially!!! ) Vance can fight back with words

Republicans going forward need people who can fight back because the media will always trash any republican nominee

We will always need a fighter

Pessimistic MAGA.
Negative MAGA.
Concern Troll MAGA.
Weak MAGA.

...all get blocked. We might vote the same, but we are NOT the same.

IF Trumo’s reason is to be politically smart then the closer to the DNC convention when he makes that announcemnt the better. The Dims will only have a month to gin up their attack machines on Trump’s VP pick before they go to their own convention (and all the riots there), meanwhile Trump’s VP pick will already be building up their name.

If his running mate is also from Florida, Trump would have to keep his residence in another state until after the electors cast their ballots in December.

It’s a very big deal.

The electors each cast two separate and distinct votes. One vote is for president and one is for vice president.

The electors cannot vote for both a president and a vice president from their same state. So if Trump chose a Floridian as a running mate, the Florida electors would not be able to vote for both Trump and that running mate.

The vice president is elected by the Electoral College just as the president is.

Didn’t Trump say something about wanting to move to Texas at the NRA convention in Dallas? I figure he was just playing to the crowd, but who knows?

*$5 says it’s none of the above. It’ll be a choice from ‘left field’, that no one expects.*
Points to Rand. Only Randfan agrees.

*I agree with you about Carson. Too soft-spoken and nice.*
It’s more than that. Trump needs an experienced fighter to continue his movement in ‘28. Rand has won twice and doesn’t need any training on national issues.

Vivek? Fine. Just don’t support him in ‘28 without a Trump thumbs-up at the ‘28 convention-not before.

Don’t rule out Nikki Haley . Here’s what Trump said yesterday…

https://x.com/TheCalvinCooli1/status/1794075125098090557

President Trump makes a new statement on Nikki Haley possibly joining his administration in some sort of role.

Trump said, “I think she’s going to be on our team, because we have a lot of the same ideas, the same thoughts.”

Right. So Trump gets all 30 electoral votes from Florida. The VP gets none.

But again - no big deal. Based on the majority of electoral votes Trump will get - his Florida running mate will win by default.
