I increasingly feel that feminism has failed my generation. It is a peculiarity of the West that it is divided into sets which differ profoundly in their beliefs. This state of affairs began with the Reformation and has grown more pronounced ever since. There were Protestants and Catholics who differed fundamentally not only on faith but on practical matters. It was among Protestant communities that feminism first emerged, and it is in Protestant countries such as America and Britain in which feminist beliefs have been at their most vocal and strident in tone, like a religion with no dilution of agnosticism. Margaret Thatcher, though she would have denied it, was a feminist de facto, and no Catholic country could have produced her like.
. . .
Where, for instance, does it leave women like me, when we have reached the age of 54, as I have, and find ourselves both single and childless? Hugging the collected works of Proust, or engaging in furtive sojourns to the pub that bring remembrances of things pissed? One in 10 British women in their 50s have never married and live alone, which is neither pleasant nor healthy.

It’s over 2 billion since Roe was inserted into the Constitution.
Bachelorhood on the other hand is fantastic!
You are right...but Jeeze you killed the Mood.(LOL...just joking)
I mean it sounded so down to Earth like drinking box wine, alone in front of a fake fire place/electric heater..wrapped up in both, a bathrobe and one’s three cats!
Certainly not all your fault. Anyone who picks and chooses what parts of God’s law they want to follow is at fault.
Happily married people live longer, healthier lives.
Deep State’s war on healthy, happy nuclear families accomplishes a lot of goals, doesn’t it.
Deep State’s front office appearance types are idiots.
The people hiding behind them are most certainly not.
Why do married men die before their wives do?
Because they want to.
You made your choices and now you have to live with them. And that is where it leaves you.
Although women like Margaret Thatcher and Phyllis Schlafly, to name two, are vehemently denounced by feminists.
Not in my hubby’s family.
I married well. :-)
I drink boxed wine...had a successful career and a very happy marriage until my wonderful husband died suddenly at 53.
Cheers!
They’re denounced by Deep State Handmaidens.
Do you confuse Bergoglio with Catholicism?
"It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy." - George Orwell '1984'
Women are society’s moral guardians. They will protect what they understand to be moral.
And not a very good writer. Even her name is annoying.
The reason there are so many moonbat women in the world is they are the ones that have the most babies, with the most partners, especially during full moons. Living in big cities high up in concrete towers seems to increase the gravity of the situation.
It will take a generation or two, but eventually all these morons will be gone and will have not reproduced.
Thank heavens.
It was never about “feminism” - it was socialists seeing a niche to open up to begin our downfall....
If you ever were (are) employed in a place with 90%+ female coworkers or with all female supervision, then you know exactly what I mean.
My boss of 20 years was a paid up member of long standing in the ‘c u next Tuesday club’.
Nothing was beneath or beyond her spite, hatefulness and pathological need for incessant bullying....NOTHING!
I believe they fight so hard for abortion because they have already had an abortion. And to admit that a fetus is a baby is to admit they murdered their own baby.
I’m a 63 yr old female and if it were up to me, I’d have the 19th amendment repealed. Today’s woman has 0% responsibility and 100% authority. Not good.
That is a good essay.
I have a female friend just like her. She just reached her 70s and has never been married. She dated a really rich guy as her first serious relationship, then, every guy afterward couldn’t match up.
It’s still that way, but, sadly, she now claims she just wants someone who can take care of her, with her multiple health issues. However, she’s dated all the datable men in her smaller city, and was left unimpressed.
Some women are able to get attention from guys with their physical beauty and initial conversations, but the luster of the guy rubs off, or the guy wises up, and they part ways.
This was the world my now 70-something friend made and has now passed her by.
