April 12

God’s Agents of Peace

Bible in a Year :

The Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.”

Acts 23:11

Nora went to the peaceful protest because she felt strongly about the issue of justice. As planned, the demonstration was silent. The protestors walked in powerful quietness through the downtown area.

Then two buses pulled up. Agitators had arrived from out of town. A riot soon broke out. Heartbroken, Nora left. It seemed their good intentions were fruitless.

When the apostle Paul visited the temple at Jerusalem, people who opposed Paul saw him there. They were “from the province of Asia” (Acts 21:27) and viewed Jesus as a threat to their way of life. Shouting lies and rumors about Paul, they quickly stirred up trouble (vv. 28-29). A mob dragged Paul from the temple and beat him. Soldiers came running.

As he was being arrested, Paul asked the Roman commander if he could address the crowd (vv. 37-38). When permission was granted, he spoke to the crowd in their own language, surprising them and seizing their attention (v. 40). And just like that, Paul had turned a riot into an opportunity to share his story of rescue from dead religion (22:2-21).

Some people love violence and division. Don’t lose heart. They will not win. God is looking for courageous believers to share His light and peace with our desperate world. What seems like a crisis might be your opportunity to show someone God’s love. .

Reflect & Pray

When have you been in a crisis that you couldn’t make sense of? How do you think the Holy Spirit might help you find the wisdom for what to do in that moment?

Father, my heart aches for our broken world. Help me realize Your Spirit’s presence is far more powerful than any attack the world can throw at me.

I hope there weren’t any storms here. Bad ones anyway. I haven’t been out of the house to do a check for tree trash blown out. I did see some sort of empty food bag blow across the front yard but have no idea where it came from. Could have been from miles away the way the wind was blowing.

I love my turkeys. They live in the woods by the house and come out to eat in the fields and yard fairly often. The cats get all in a twitch when they get close to the house. BIG birdies!

There a lot of Canadian geese around here but they stay at the lake most of the time. They hit the fields right after harvest to eat the grain that misses the trucks. Is it ever noisy then!

LOL! You might have to just show up on her doorstep. [just kidding, friend!!]

I’ll bet you’ll be very glad to be out of the state you’re in now. It’s gone downhill fast.

The Most Unexpected Moment of WW2 that Will Never Be Repeated

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYnaPhZrTl0

Check the interesting comments below the video.

“My father in law was Charlie Brown...loved that man. Met Franz many times too when he came to Miami to stay & visit Charlie. I listened to their stories & am so very thankful for them both. If the day had changed in any way...perhaps I would have never met my beautiful wife...or been a father to my most precious son. So, so many lives would have been different just because of the events of that day...heroes...for one day & forever after.”

Blowing like crazy here! Wish it had some rain with it.

3rd time is a charm? Internet blips because of the wind maybe?

Good morning Ma ((HUGS))
Did you get any rain?
I saw a picture of the radar from last night and
it appears the storm must have made it over the Beachy homestead while we slept.

I bet the cats get bent out of shape with turkeys in the yard.
A little too big to tangle with, I’m sure. Although, bet turkeys run if challenged.

The geese land in the school yard across from the house to graze. Not too noisy here but at the pond near the trail, you bet!

Go to bed Vamp. LOL

Yes, these cats do freak out over the turkeys but several years ago, the cats we had really freaked out for a while. A silly turkey “adopted” us and stayed for a little over two weeks. She spent a lot of time hanging out in the back yard, where the outside cats spent most of their time, and they weren’t sure what to think. She also spent a lot of time hanging out with Hubby while he worked on cars at the garage. I’d go out for a walk around the farm and the silly bird would tag along like a dog. LOL Then one day she left and we never saw her again.

There have been times we had hundreds of geese in the fields in the fall, and is that ever noisy! Most of the time, they just fly over a few at a time, going from one area of the lake to another during the early mornings or early evenings. The adults fly quietly but the young ‘uns are quite noisy.

Aaaaaah, the country life. Wouldn’t trade it for anything!
