Pelosi also worked with the Parliamentarian prior to J6.

VP could have sent results back for verification

An audit of a type. Pence refused.
**********
I wish Pence had this authority, but a VP has no Constitutional change to send votes back at all, much less to do so because he thinks they are invalid. His sole charge is to “open” the “certificates”. Think I am wrong? Give me a citr from the plain language of the Constitution.

Yeah, you’re a center-leftist. You’re an idiot. You already said that the votes were legitimate, so you don’t care that Pence accepted them. There is no comparison to prior elections. And Pat Buchanan who you said before was so conservative isn’t that conservative.

“ Trump asked Pence to send disputed tabulations back to the state legislature”

There were no “disputed tabulations”.

That's not sure. There were state legislators who were disputing the tabulations.

If he couldn’t then why did the democrats quickly pass a law making the VP certification of election results a ceremonial act.

Who knows, perhaps to leave no stone unturned?

In any event the Constitution and later 3 US 15 clearly state how a state's certification for a candidate is rejected (decertified), on a vote by both the House and the Senate.

Pence held the gavel and upon receiving a certificate from a state that patently violated that state's election laws, could have called for a break in the proceedings and caucused with the R leadership to find out what they intended to do about it. At that point, the Congress had options, one of which was to return the certificate and ask for confirmation it was lawful.

Assuming Pence held formal written objections in readiness for the Jan6 Session (as we are led to believe), he did not exercise that authority. Pelosi with the riot no doubt did what she could to bumrush the event.

It sounds like you’re saying Kamala Harris can overturn this year’s election.

I do not dispute that a State Legislature, in session and under its own rules, can dispute, contest, withdraw, or appoint alternative Electors.

A "few legislators", marching around outside their Capitol, not in session and not operating under rules, cannot do any of those things.

In the case of Pennsylvania, the Republican Legislature SPECIFICALLY ADJOURNED so they would not have to consider objections of this nature.

I’m an idiot? No, I’m a normal person who is probably in the 99th percentile of Americans when it comes to being objective and emotionally detached when it comes to discussing political and legal issues.

This makes me a “center-leftist” in your mind because I reach the same conclusions regardless of whether a Democrat or a Republican stands to come out on top.

You, on the other hand, are like a fart in the wind who will go wherever your political wind takes you. It doesn’t bother you when you post the same crap we used to ridicule from “Sore Loserman” Democrats in 2000.

Exactly. Trump just wanted the states to review the obvious issues, audit what seemed corrupted. That’s not overturning; it’s due diligence.

Good. Tim Scott is a RINO through and through. He pretends to not be one but fill me twice.... “won’t be fooled again” in the words of GWB.

Does anyone think this could have been done in two weeks?

It took Maricopa County, AZ about a year and a half to audit its 2020 election results. And even then, there was nothing that could have been used to definitively change the election results even though the election was riddled with irregularities.

A/Child states Pence had no choice but to certify the election.

He lies. Has been lying for years. I’ve told him how and why his thinking is foolish. But one more time for the record....

No one held a gun to Pence’s head and forced him to certify. Even if Child was right and the VP had a constitutional duty (he didn’t) Pence still could have opted out. Allowed Patrick Leahy to step in and stab Trump in the back.

So the real point, which A/Child refuses to acknowledge, is that Pence WANTED to eff over Trump. Just as any democrat or RINO would.

Go ahead and believe Pence had a constitutional duty, but also believe and know he could have recused himself. Refused to do it. What Pence did is as bad as what Smith, Leticia and Fani are doing.

And it’s all by choice. Not law.

Oh, would you grow up and give it a rest.

Every conversation we have on this subject ends the same way with you: "Pence should have opted out and let someone else do it."

Yeah -- that's the ticket. Your advice to Pence is that he should throw a childish temper tantrum and end up with the same result anyway.

Re: 95 - of course. Vice-President Pence could have just walked off and stated he wanted no part of the process. No one was holding him there against his will.

Childish temper tantrum?

As in the same childish temper tantrum Trump and his Trumpees are throwing now over the 91 indictments?

I suppose you think Fani, Leticia and Jack are following maybe not the Constitution, but certainly the law.

Re: 95 - What Pence did was as constitutional as if he said I want no part of the process.

And let’s be frank. It should not have come down to Pence. President Trump had a clown car of a team leading election and voter fraud efforts. They wasted valuable time on kook theories.

A Clown Car: Sydney Powell, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Lindell, Michael Flynn, Patrick Byrne, Lin Wood, and others

Byrne has said in regards to the post election FUBAR Trump said this... “Pat, can you imagine what I could have gotten done here, if I had not been fighting my own people?”
