Please stop paying attention to the Sidney Powell and Mike Flynn nonsense you've been latching onto for more than three years now.
It is not idiotic. Now you believe Joe Biden won?
"Defending Mike Pence"? Just stating the facts about the powers of the Vice Presidency has nothing to do with "defending Pence." Pence personally could have zero integrity or be a saint. That doesn't alter the facts of what the powers and roles of the office of Vice President are and are not under the law and the Constitution.
Right.
severe conservative
1. There were plenty of irregularities in the election, but nothing that conclusively proves anything.
2. There's also no evidence that conclusively proves TRUMP would have been the winner without the irregularities.
3. All of these questions became moot when the electoral vote certifications were done in December 2020 and nobody in a position of authority in any state formally objected to the electoral votes from that state.
Item #3 is critical. I said at the time that the best course of action would be for the legislatures in the disputed states to approve alternate slates of electors on the date of the electoral vote.
They didn't do it like I said they should. THE END.
Yes!
Hence Marco’s weasel answer.
It is for the states’ to verify their EVs, not the VP. We’ve had a case where certain states contradicted themselves on their EVs (1876), and the Congress, in its wisdom, created a special commission to resolve the problem.
In 2020, states (meaning state legislatures) could have objected to the special COVID voting rules. Some individual state legislators did in real time, and other individual state legislatorss did after the fact (by which time it was too late). At the time of the opening of the ballots by the VP, only a handful of members of Congress objected and, so, that settled it.
The same thing in 2001. Some Democrats objected to the counting of the EC vote. VP Gore could not overturn that election.
Ditto in 2005 when, again, some Democrats objected to the counting of the EC vote. Of course, as the VP was a Republican, those objections were never going anywhere.
Ditto in 2017 when, yet again, some Democrats objected to the counting of the EC vote. VP Biden could not overturn that election.
You’d think by the 2017 farce that it would have been clear that VPs cannot overturn the election. But, no, since Donald Trump is a winner, by definition, he could not have lost the election of 2020. So, there had to be a traitor to blame; e.g., Pence.
As for Marco Rubio, we need somebody strong for VP and, I’m sorry, that’s not Marco. I’m thinking Abbott or Pompeo. Those are strong whom Trump respects.
Trump carries a lot of baggage. He’s been stupid in court and has lost several civil cases badly. But, Trump is also a very smart person. If he can discipline himself for the next several months, he will be elected President. The American people have a lot of sympathy for the guy. For all his shortcomings, he’s been royally screwed by the swamp.
We are beholding one of the great dramas of all time.
The Congressional certification date is early and a number of investigations of wrongdoing was ongoing. Trump was not trying to overturn the election but get it right.
Yep, you’re Republican Establishment just like I said and those comments are dumb. I’ve seen lots posts from you that show you’re not a conservative. You’re defending Mike Pence and saying Trump didn’t win right here.
Does the Electoral Count Act figure in this? I know Congress changed the act after Jan. 6.
The most Trump was ever going to get was a fair hearing and an opportunity for some in Congress to object and vote against the count.
Telling you that the VP of the United States -- regardless of who it is -- has no authority to reject electoral votes doesn't make me anything less than a hard-right conservative.
Look at the other examples posted all over this thread (and others on this same subject over the last three years). I would have said the same thing in 2001, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016, too.
Congress voted under duress to certify Biden as the winner after our version of the Reichstag Fire.
IOW the insurrection was on the part of San Fran Nan and her fellow communists.
Re: 70 - Oh grow up. Waahhh - Alberta’s Child doesn’t agree with me! Wahhhh!
“ Trump asked Pence to send disputed tabulations back to the state legislature”
There were no “disputed tabulations”.
In the only election that matters, Biden had 306 votes and he needed 270..
Of course he won.
Exactly. The time to resolve any “disputed tabulations” was BEFORE January 6th.
LOL.
