Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas (D) claims Missouri Gov. Mike Parson (R) used a racial “dog whistle” when he referred to the Chiefs parade shooting suspects as “thugs.”
The New York Post reported that Lucas made this assessment on KCUR’s Up to Date radio program.
Parson had reacted to Wednesday’s shooting by saying, “We can’t let some thugs just take over and ruin what happened.”
Lucas told KCUR, “I have respect for the governor. We get along well. I disagree strongly with how he would describe that situation. I certainly do think this was criminal activity. It was lawlessness, and I think that that’s troubling. But ‘thugs’ is a dog whistle in the most classic sense.”

It’s also because of lack of gun control after all how many under 18-year-old minors can walk into a store and buy a gun legally? Of course, you know that answer none. So these were street guns. Mayor Lucas needs to admit that it was thugs. Any kid under 18 who could shoot another kid is definitely a thug.
I’ve lived in Kansas City since 1981. The intercity is suffering. This all started under the mayor Emmanuel Cleaver who is now a congressman.
The commonality of Kansas City to any other declining urban city is that it’s run by Democrats.
Oh. Thugs is meant to be another word for negro youth.?
To me thug means criminal and does not indicate race whatsoever. We haven’t been told if these juvenile delinquents are black or hispanic, but their pictures on the internet at the arrest certainly showed they aren’t caucasian. What level of respect should the governor be giving criminals I ask you?
“People lost their life’s and this POS is worried about them being called thugs and screaming racist?”
You often see criticism of officials who, for example, failed to condemn X...for any given event X. Often X is something irrelevant to the official being criticized for not condemning it. As a consequence, everyone in the public eye feels they simply must have a position on every possible X. This leads to a lot of comments that, to be honest, have the same effect as the sound of crickets in the back yard. You just ignore them. If you’re a certain type of politician condemning someone for racism is as reflexive as a sneeze...and equally unavoidable. None of this will make it into a history book, or even into next week’s news. Any more than “and on the night of the 13th there was the sound of crickets.”
That’s what I heard too.
As a retired school teacher, l was told this around 2005.
Of course the POS knows not the proper use of the English language. He only knows ebonics.

I guess he should have called them african-american gang bangers. Then it would be factual not “rasssist”.
OK, they’re Democrats.
I guess next we won’t be able to call a spade a spade.
That is what commie Dems do. Their big concern is words. Never actions. Call them thugs, or negroes, or use “homos” or fags or now even trannie, and you are branded evil for life.
But go ahead and endlessly riot for a year, or beat up and kill people, that is ok.
It often came up in terms of Mafia, or unions.
To Mayor Lucas: The truth hurts doesn’t it sunshine?
It was thuggee, and often just the fact it was from an Indian gang causes white Dems to chime in that to use such a term is racist. Because why couldn’t you come up with a term from white cultures?
What else would or should one call them— for their ACTIONS?
Would career CRIMINALS be a “racist” term. They are THINGS who happen to have human characteristics and traits— but are much closer to lower life. The Italian helps: Animali.
A “dog whistle” to which a DOG and “the dogs” come running and yelping. Pack behaviour.
Sounds like the mayor is a thug.
