New York special election to fill Santos' seat seen as bellwether for November 2024

Tuesday's special election for the House seat formerly occupied by former Rep. George Santos’s, R-N.Y., could be a bellwether for how November 2024 will play out, as President Biden grapples with low job approval numbers and the Democratic candidate attempts to distance himself from the incumbent president.

A recent Rasmussen Reports poll found Biden's approval rating to be at 42%. According to the results of another survey conducted in early February, Biden's job approval is just 38%.

Prior to Santos, the seat was last occupied by former Rep. Tom Suozzi, who decided not to seek re-election in 2022. Suozzi, who is running again for the seat, has focused on protecting abortion rights as a central issue in his campaign. Republican Mazi Pilip, Suozzi's opponent, has made border security, immigration, and fighting rising crime key issues in her campaign.

In the homestretch of the race, Suozzi has appeared to make an effort to distance himself from Biden.

Can the GOP regain this seat in NY? Can they overcome the amount of election fraud that is sure to be a part of this election? I guess we will soon see.

The GOP has a track record of losing seats that should be winnable. They gave away the Santos vote in the House at a time when their majority was already razor thin and his vote was needed.

The special election is today.

Sometimes it seems that Biden came into office with an approval rating of 42%.
Since then, it has been steadily dropping.
Month after month of constant declines in his approval rating.
Three years of dropping rates of approval.
And at this point, his approval rating has reached an all-time low of 42%.

In other words: they just make all of this stuff up.

The 42% is completely believable.
Brandon got 81 million votes, after all.

Trump won the majority of bellwether states during the last election and yet some how magically lost the Presidency. I thought they didn’t mean anything anymore
Kicking Santos out was dumb even for republicans. It should have been up to the voters

You understand, of course, that if an election is close, the recount must go on until the Democrat Socialist wins.

That said, Mazi Pilip is an amazing example of a legal immigrant since become a naturalized citizen, being more American than many of those who are “birthright” Americans in name only. And now they are organized into a political party, taking over the framework of what was once the Democrat party, converting it into Democrat Socialist, with scarcely a whimper from those who remain true to the earlier iteration. Of course, as Democrat Socialists flexed their muscle, a much larger class of independent voters has emerged, not yet Republicans, but definitely NOT Democrat Socialists.

It’s unreal, isn’t it? How can that possibly be? I would expect something like 10%. Must be the circles we live in, of which 42% I would prefer to avoid.

Come on! Remember the “red wave” of 2022. How can you call the republicans a dumb party with Mitch McConnell running it?

“Kicking Santos out was dumb even for republicans. It should have been up to the voters.”

That is why the Republican party is called the stupid party.
If the Demorats held a slim majority in the House, they would have never kicked out a member of their own party. If the stupid party keeps it up, we may yet have Jeffries as speaker of the house!

The Siena poll noted in the piece is bizarre. Gives the Demon Rat candidate a four point lead over the Republican among likely special election voters... BUT gives TRUMP a five point lead over the figurehead occupant from Delaware.

The leftist will make this a loss for the GOP, by any means possible. They absolutely want to control the narrative heading into the rest of 2024 election season.

If folks are truly looking to assign blame for a loss in any election, they need to confront the fact that at least half of the fault should be borne, unknowingly, by those complaining loudest. Yes, there is almost certainly election fraud occuring in current elections. Pointing it out should certainly occur, evidence pursued & remedies sought. However, those pointing out & encouraging discussion of election fraud, should take special care not to mistakenly convince good people that their participation is pointless, their vote won’t make a difference & elections are a sham. The only way to have enough clout to change or overcome election fraud is by attracting the highest possible participation levels. Once you’ve bitched & wined, cursed the state of the nation & convinced enough people that voting doesn’t matter, you’ve not only lost an election- you’ve ensured that there won’t be enough folks to fight to overcome it in future elections. I wish that our side would see that we are playing right into their hands. A republic doesn’t die because an election fraud has occurred, it dies when good people don’t vote! 🤔
