Supreme Court Moving Fast In Trump Ballot Disqualification Case, Written Opinion Coming
Epoch Times ^ | 1/24/24 | Tom Ozimek

The U.S. Supreme Court has signaled that it’s moving fast with former President Donald Trump’s appeal that seeks to overturn the Colorado Supreme Court ruling barring him from the ballot on 14th Amendment grounds.

A note accompanying the U.S. Supreme Court’s schedule for Feb. 8, the day the high court is set to hear the first oral arguments in the case, indicates that it intends to announce written opinions on the very same day. While the substance of the opinions has not been revealed, the declaration that they will be published on Feb. 8 is significant as it indicates that the Supreme Court views the case as having significant legal importance and warrants expedited consideration.

The question that the former president’s attorneys presented for consideration in their Jan. 3 petition was whether the Colorado Supreme Court incorrectly ordered President Trump excluded from the 2024 presidential ballot.

Let's see how Roberts manages to twist the Constitution this time. I have my fingers crossed but as we've seen several times, we can't always count on the "conservatives" on the Court.

Eligibility is based on the Constitution and the Rules of the State to get on the ballot.

The call that he is guilty of crimes because the state says so...is absurd.

It should be 9-0 in Trump's favor.

8-1 at most … JMHO. The one justice doesn’t even know what a woman is.

CJ Roberts and AC Barret will let us down once again. They are both compromised (my opinion) and can NEVER be trusted in serious cases involving the leadership of this nation and the integrity of elections.

I predict they uphold the Colorado Supreme Court of the concept of states rights.

It could be 5-4 with the 5 conservatives vs. Roberts and the 3 leftists. In that case the Democrats will scream that the 3 Trump nominated-justices should have recused themselves.

do NOT speak death but life. Thank you Jesus, that the eyes of the justices will be opened to the TRUTH and they will rule based on justice and lawfulness. They cannot rule against what is right and ordained by YOU. In Jesus’ Name we declare this!

In the past there were no official ballots printed by the states like we have today. People trusted the local newspapers to print all of the candidates on a ballot that the reader could cut out, mark his options, and bring to the polling station. Otherwise the voter had to hand write his own ballot.

For the 1860 election, some of the Dim run newspapers kept Lincoln's name off of their ballots. Yet Lincoln won with 180 of the 303 electoral college votes (for comparison, 2nd place Dim Breckinridge got only 72).

The states barring candidates will not have their delegates to the electoral college seated

Agreed. This should be a constitutional slam dunk. No "fiddlin' and diddlin'" (as Johnny Most used to say) in the paint looking for the open man to pass to outside the three point line.

I guess states rights does not extend to border issues like in Texas but will on voting issues?
