The Los Angeles Times, the largest newspaper in California and one of the biggest by circulation in the entire United States, was hit with a heavy round of layoffs Tuesday. The move to terminate more than 110 positions within the company has been widely rumored for several weeks — even prompting a one-day walkout protest from the newsroom last week — but the scale of the layoffs, and when those layoffs would happen, was not widely known until Tuesday morning.

Did they layoff the daughter of the owner? She’s a superwoked out radical using her daddy’s paper to spew all her @#$%.
Regardless of ideology are there any newspapers thriving? Our local paper, the Southeast Missourian is down, to 3 print issues per week. The ‘big’ Saturday (no Sunday paper) is smaller than what used to be issued on weekdays. Not only are there fewer pages, the pages are much smaller than they used to be.
“should make every American recoil in rage”
But, every American is watching football and March Madness is coming up soon and the new MLB season openers are in April then it’s Memorial Day and the start of summer BBQ season and swimming at the beach. Of course, then you have to sharpen the skis for next winter and prepare to rake the leaves in October, get the turkey to celebrate Thanksgiving and start shopping for Christmas gifts. Lots to do.
What was that about “recoiling in rage”?
Yes plus the news papers now are so small you have to close one eye to read one.
All those illegal aliens don’t read the LA Times? Who saw that coming?
I dunno...Lots more folks seem to be paying attention nowadays. At least the one’s I run in to. Look at Iowa...A historic blowout. I think even those drooling in cups are seeing their dollars buy less and less, seeing conga lines of millions crash the border as their offered tax paid prizes and gifts, on and on.
We’ll see soon enough, by November at the latest I reckon.
I love good news on an otherwise bleak Tuesday.
But tomorrow is looking up. More liberal tears.
Good. Minimum wage political officers need to be gone.
One suspects that the received a good many cancellations over that.
Was it a Gannett paper?
I sure hope so!
The Southeast Missourian began publication on October 3, 1904 as The Daily Republican.
The newspaper changed its name to the Southeast Missourian in 1918.
It is the flagship publication of Rust Communications.
Printed paper will not last but that is not what is killing local papers. There was a time when they were the only game in town so the leftists in Boston could write the same story as the leftist in LA and sell it to a captive market. Now that anyone can get news from any location they have to compete with eachother. Since the stories are the same who needs two sources. The employees have an even worse prognosis because, having been trained to do nothing but aggregate and regurgitate leftist agitprop, they are incapable of creating original content. Aggregating and regurgitating is exactly what AI does, cheaper and better than they can.
Hey! That’s what it says in the NY Times, too, along with Israel sucks, Palestinians are oppressed in Israel, America sucks generally, it was the only place where slavery ever existed, blahblahblahblahblah.
The L A Times was once a great newspaper and once very Conservative until one of the Chandler family , who was Liberal, got control of it and then steadily downhill until the Chandler family sold it off. I used to take this paper in college back in the 1970’s, it was just a great paper to read.
No it wasn’t. Used to owned by the Chandler Family in California and they sold out years ago.
I could be wrong, but the lack of advertising is what is killing printed newspapers. Less revenue from ads means fewer local ‘reporters’ and more stuff bought from AP. Our local TV station is doing the same thing. Half of the local news is devoted to stories like ‘Buffalo, NY man uses spare time building birdhouses”.
My wife subscribes mainly for the obits and the crosswords. I do the Sudoku and read the comics. Fresher news is available everywhere.
They don't "teach" reading in Kalifornica; it's DIE on Zoom.
“how is the SF paper doing?”
Nobody can read it under the pile of human waste.
AI can generate Leftist drivel cheaper than live Libtards.
