Former President Donald Trump, the Republican frontrunner for president in 2024, told Breitbart News exclusively during a two-hour-plus interview at Mar-a-Lago last week that the person who gets the nod for vice president will not make much difference in the grand scheme of things regarding winning the election.
“If you study the history of presidential runs, a vice president has never made a difference—which is surprising,” Trump said. “It’s a one-night story, and then they’re back to a regular evening. They’re voting for the president. They’re not voting for the vice president. There has, not that I can think of, never been a vice president that’s made much of a difference in terms of nomination and in terms of even winning the election.”
While Trump did not get into specifically whom he would pick if he wins the nomination as expected or a timeline for an eventual decision, he did say that Republicans have a deep bench, and lots of people would be good choices.

And yet, many Freepers have been saying they would abandon Trump if he picks the wrong running mate.
I even donated when she was picked! I think I would still vote for her for President! Just don’t know if she has changed much. She has been out of the spotlight for quite some time.

Agree-Trump is wrong about this and letting his ego get the better of his judgement. (his major flaw) . Not for the fact that he is another 77 year old, but Trumps numbers with single women are terrible and he needs help there or will lose.
The VP doesn’t always deliver states but it does matter, LBJ on the tix got JFK elected when LBJ delivered Texas (Texas was leaning for Nixon prior) JFK, as president, told an aide: “You’ve got to admit that I was right. We couldn’t have carried the South without Johnson.” RFK said to add in the states we are sure of and now we can add Texas which we couldn’t before
If something happens to Trump we need a very strong MAGA with fortitude to continue and not slip back. What happens after 4 years of Trump if his VP can’t continue to keep us America?
The pick is far more than inconsequential.

Wrong again. He was born in the United States to parents legally within the United States. That has been adjudicated and confirmed multiple times as meeting the definition of natural born. Also is what the term meant at the time it was written.
Unless Trump or DeSantis is leaving Florida as their state of residence he is a no-go as a running mate. You can’t forfeit 30 Electors off the bat - that is not a winning strategy.
Nope. His parents weren’t US citizens. Anchor babies are not natural born Citizens.
Absolutely, if the veep is no threat to win the next election then the system will just stall and wait out Trump’s one term.
It does make a difference when DJT’s 4 years are up.

Pompeo is more qualified than any of the current non-Trumpers running, but he admitted supporting Assange’s potential assassination. That’s a big deal breaker.
Trump needs to pick someone who is MEGA-MEGA MAGA to be his VP and be his Insurance Policy against being impeached.

Otherwise, I feel PDJT must pick a woman. My favorite is Stefanik followed by Noem perhaps although she has a problematic personal “relationship,” if you will, that might be used against her.
Assange is the bad guy...not Pompeo...They couldn’t even get him extradited to the US. Discussions happen...actions did not. I can’t find where he supported his assassination....which would have endangered others.
It is hard to say a VP does or doesn’t make a difference.
My step father did the same thing... Said he had just tossed the GOP mailer in the trash. Then later that day, she was announced as the pick and he instantly went and dug through the trash and got it back out and sent it in telling them why it was all crinkled up and that she was the ONLY reason they were getting the donation.
He should be reminded how we voted for Palin.
