Apparently they get to stay together! She has a room that can hold all the kittens. Since Mom is afraid of the kittens she gets to go in the lady’s bedroom. So nobody is in a cage, yay!

Guns, home-made bombs, military bombs, rock-throwing, machete slicing, burnings, and rioting are all things which have happened here. The locals want to be completely self-governing. The national government wants to maintain control. There is an organized independence movement.

We try to stay out of it.

We have been caught in a riot once and almost in a riot a couple more times. Once, in 2001, I think, a man holding a gun confronted us over whether we were Christians.

Some of you know Mary Scarborough - screen-name Altura.

Mary passed yesterday in Kehei Hawaii where she has lived since after her husband’s death. They had previously lived in the Dallas area. Her desire had always been to live in Hawaii. She was a journalist, author, sharp witted woman. She walked her pup daily and shared amusing tales of the people, flowers/plants and pets she encountered in Hawaii. She was mother of Sandra a beautiful and caring daughter who also lived in Hawaii.

Mary had a stroke in May and was in rehab. We shared text contact over years

She was one of the original FReepers - 1997. Frequented many threads on FR - a favorite being the Sunday morning Talk Show thread hosted weekly by Atlas Babylon.
