Trust in science and vaccines continues to decline. Why? (Clueless alert)
Science Based Medicine ^ | November 27, 2023 | David Gorski

As we are approaching the end of the fourth year of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed close to 7 million people worldwide and 1.2 million in just the US alone, both estimates being almost certainly significant undercounts of the true toll, I was depressed  to see yet more evidence indicating significantly declining trust in science and science-based interventions to combat disease, such as vaccines.

For example, earlier this month the Pew Research Center published survey results noting that Americans’ Trust in Scientists, Positive Views of Science Continue to Decline, with the blurb, “Among both Democrats and Republicans, trust in scientists is lower than before the pandemic.”

Not long before that, there was a spate of articles about how exemptions to school vaccine requirements are now at an all-time high and COVID-19 and influenza vaccine uptake among children is very low, based on a recent MMWR study Coverage with Selected Vaccines and Exemption from School Vaccine Requirements Among Children in Kindergarten — United States, 2022–23 School Year.

The news is indeed depressing for science and vaccine advocates, as has been recent news about how vaccination rates among healthcare workers for influenza and COVID-19 have been declining, based on two studies also published in MMWR, Influenza and Up-to-Date COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage Among Health Care Personnel — National Healthcare Safety Network, United States, 2022–23 Influenza Season and Declines in Influenza Vaccination Coverage Among Health Care Personnel in Acute Care Hospitals During the COVID-19 Pandemic — United States, 2017–2023.

As someone who…has always gotten his yearly flu vaccine and who is also up-to-date on COVID-19 boosters…I nonetheless admit to little surprise at these data.

Dr. Peter Hotez, the dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, said a “revisionist history” popped up as the pandemic emerged, blaming scientists for seeding mistrust and exacerbating the harms of Covid-19.

“There was a predatory, targeted, deliberate movement from the far right trying to discredit science and scientists,” Hotez said. “The narrative that’s trying to be put out there is that the scientists did something wrong.”

Why? Because we caught you lying.

The shots weren’t vaccines. They were shots granted EUA for prevention.

When they stopped being preventative, you lied and said the vaccines were approved to lessen symptoms, keep you out of the hospital, etc.

And it was the MSM and scientists and physicians and bureaucrats who were part of a “predatory, targeted, deliberate movement…trying to discredit” anyone who disagreed with 2 weeks to flatten the curve/stay home until you accept communism.

You lied. We caught you. And now we laugh at you being as popular as a cold sore and as trusted as the Serpent.

Fauci & Gates are the only ones who won’t move on.

Hotez is a strident apologist for the vaccine demons.

The CDC has essentially admitted that the "vaccines" are useless:

If you were exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 or have been told by a healthcare provider or public health authority that you were exposed, here are the steps that you should take, regardless of your vaccination status or if you have had a previous infection.

Wear a mask as soon as you find out you were exposed
Start counting from Day 1

Day 0 is the day of your last exposure to someone with COVID-19
Day 1 is the first full day after your last exposure

CONTINUE PRECAUTIONS
10 Full Days

After the CoVid novel 'shot' fiasco, it caused a lot of people to research the history of vaccines.
It is pretty ugly. I recommend reading 'Turtles All the Way Down', 'Dissolving Illusions', 'The Real Anthony Fauci', etc ...
It seems unlikely that any of these 'vaccines' (not just the CoVid rMNA concoction) have been of any net benefit. They 'might' spur some internal reaction for a person to develop relevant antibodies, but this is offset by various negative side-effects. Some gross - like when Bill Gates organizations caused polio in many African and Indian children (and probably more that we don't know of) - and probably other side effects of autism, cancers, autoimmune problems, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc., in others.
And Peter Hotez is just a Big Pharma shill.

Most of the great benefits that the vaccine fans (of which I'd count myself in their numbers, pre CoVid days) like to point to is the great reduction of deadly diseases like smallpox, measles, etc. It turns out if you plot out the mortality rates due to these diseases, they preceded the introduction of the vaccines. The primary benefits were due to improvements in society's hygiene practices (water, sewage, food, etc). The vaccine manufacturers ran to the front of the parade after these benefits, and have taken credit where credit was not due.

Maybe it’s because the people pushing these treatments have proven to be 100% corrupt and/or incompetent.

Hotez wears a bowtie that sets off *my* “Epstein Island”-dar.

If Pfauci & co. hadn’t funded gain-of-function then lied about it, then lied again about the clot-shots, grifters like Hotez wouldn’t be facing quite the same skepticism.

As it is, we have both Gore-Bull warming and the clot shots as examples of “Because SCIENCE!™”

Hotez is wrong on one count. The antivax movement did not originate from the far right. It originated over 200 years ago from charlatans who did not want people to get smallpox vaccine. When the pandemic rolled around, they targeted the right. This was probably political: anything to discredit conservatives and undermine President Trump's efforts to quell the pandemic. The targeting of conservatives was very deliberate.

Only scientifically educated people can create very plausible sounding antivax hooey. They read the scientific papers and lie about what they say. Most conservatives--most liberals, too, for that matter--do not understand science well enough to even be able to make plausible lies about it.

That was one hell of a big Freudian slip on your part, Dingbat.

"Trust in science and vaccines continues to decline. Why?"

Why? Because it's from Pfizer of course.

Hi Dingbat.

Remember what I kept trying to tell you early on about trust?

I'm sure that if you grab your ears with both hands, and tug really hard in the direction of your shoulders, you can pull your head out.

Give it a try, mmmmkay?

Science is a great idea and is one of the best ways we have of figuring things out. Observing things a number of times under controlled conditions, noting what happens, compiling the data and then drawing conclusions is how we have learned how to do almost every thing.

But that is not what he means by science.

To him "Science" is god. Which is kind of stupid.

Yep.

I am a big fan of the scientific process. But when what they are talking about does not make sense or when they not only change what they say but outright deny that they said it in the first place, that means I am being lied to.

Which is sad. Because now I can not trust them.

“Dr Kadlec felt that Fauci had other reasons for wanting to divert attention away from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. He said Fauci was likely worried about his reputation if it eventuated that his agency had funded the gain-of-function research that sparked the outbreak.”

I figured the FR jab proselytizers would be in this thread in force, how dare you question their science!

If one rejects the covid jab they are labeled anti-vac by this smug crowd of elites. I rejected your covid jab because it wasn’t properly tested that doesn’t make me anti-vac. Most vaccines up to 1985 time frame were and are effective, after that date it gets dicey.

I now question every thing my doctor tells me and do my own research. They showed that during covid they were willing to commit murder in the name of their science and to keep their license. As for big pharma and the FDA/CDC if you follow the science cultist still believe a word they utter I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

how dare you question their science!

"Their Science" is like "Their Truth". It means you are about to be subjected to delusional rantings rather then objective reality.

And when they start in with the "you just can't understand it so we need to hide the data" I know I am being lied to.
