The latest poll for the 2024 presidential election shows former President Donald Trump with one of his most commanding leads yet over the rest of the GOP primary field, and a statistical tie with Joe Biden for the general election.
As CNBC reports, the poll from Quinnipiac University reveals that 62% of Republican primary voters support Trump. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) is in a distant second place with just 12%, the only other candidate to score double digits. Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy (R-Ohio) is in third with 6%, while former Vice President Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley (R-S.C.) are tied with 5% each. South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) has just 3% support, and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R-N.J.) rounds out the primary field with 2%.
In the general election matchup, Biden leads Trump by just one point, with 47% to Trump’s 46%. As the poll has a margin of error of 2.4%, the result is essentially a statistical tie; with a much closer popular vote result than Biden’s 4.5% margin over Trump in the 2020 election, the result would suggest an electoral college advantage for Trump.
The Quinnipiac poll asked its respondents about the various indictments against President Trump, as well as the corruption scandals plaguing Biden’s presidency. When asked about the federal election cast brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith, 56% of respondents called it “very serious,” while 54% said they considered the Georgia indictment to be just as serious.
Meanwhile, half of the poll’s respondents indicated that they believe the allegations that Joe Biden was involved in his son Hunter’s foreign business deals while he was vice president in the Obama Administration, with 35% saying that he likely committed illegal acts.
Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has since formally approved an impeachment inquiry against Biden, which will be carried out by three House committees: The Oversight Committee, the Judiciary Committee, and the Ways and Means Committee.
so sad for the Bush and Romney families

YES!!!
but deepstate says....
"Oh, I see you’re taking my advice and focusing your attention on Biden. Instead of DeSantis.I'm sorry R2nd, I tried so hard to take your advice.
Good for you.
As I’ve told you - you have nothing to fear from a guy who’s 40 points down in the polls. I’ve told you: Worry about Biden who is at the same approval numbers as Trump.
Glad to see you’re listening."
Just wait until the tipping point and the walls start closing in. He could drop to a 49% lead.
There are stories every single day, here on Free Republic, showing the polls and Trump with huge leads.
The most recent Quinnipiac University poll has Biden at 47% and Trump at 46%.
No one is denying that DeSantis is 40 points down in the polls. Or even worse.
But what we find laughable is that you incessantly post and repost that data. Why? We’ve told you that you only Trumpers should focus on Pence, Vivek, Nikkie and even (especially) Biden.
But nope. It’s all about the Meatball for you guys. Hundreds and hundreds of FR posts.
So yeah. See your doctor.
It’s cruel to have all of these polls, when The Left will end up cheating their way to victory, yet again, on November ‘24.
Only 50?
Childish
I wish too our side would stop beating up on DeSantis. He’s a great governor and would make a great president hopefully in the future.
You do not understand the difference between 50 point lead and 1 point lead? Have you heard of MOE?
