I expected after the 2020 election & the multiple disappointments since, that as the primary season leading up to 2024 lingered on, I would find myself supporting somebody other than Trump. I happily voted for him in both elections & certainly loved his America First stances that should always have been part of conservative orthodoxy. Reducing immigration, favoring the Americsn worker & only supporting trade that benefits the people of this nation.
His arrival on the political stage happened at a time when the only brand of Conservatism that was allowed by elites was the big business, corporate, tax cutting type that constantly involved us in foreign wars, supported mass third world immigration for the cheap labor express and wanted an internationalist future. They were always the weakest strain that never seemed willing to fight back.
His election was thrilling & it meant the world to all of us who wanted leaders that actually stood up to leftist bullies & the media. His staffing choices were never the greatest and Lord knows he underestimated the opposition, but it was impossible not to be thankful for a Trump Presidency. How awful would a President Hillary Clinton have been? We needed him there.
The one space that I could never seem to force myself into was being an apologist that silenced any criticisms. I was never going to be the girl that was unfailingly supportive of any political figure. His biggest supporters always seemed to go overboard on making everything about loyalty to him. The argumentative stance they took seemed to shout down any questions or reservations from fellow conservatives. It still goes on & isn't productive. Criticism would help to hone his political stances & make him tougher to beat. He proved not to be amazing at helping pick candidates that would win elections.
After consistent losses for Republicans in 2020 and 2022, we were presented with a question of who should be the leader in the 2024 Presidential race. Was it time to choose a new standard bearer? Many of us were thrilled with the lopsided Florida elections that won majorities of Hispanics and other elusive groups. Governor DeSantis seemed a rising star with solid conservative stances and a bright future.
To date, DeSantis and all other candidates have proved lackluster on the national stage. Though most will probably do great in the future, they seem unprepared for the office they seek. During this time, polls of Republicans and conservatives have shown a clear favorite in Trump. So many of the others running have failed to win support because of how new and untested they are.
We have also all been watching a Democrat Party actively pursing the prosecution & conviction of Trump, his lawyers & ultimately his supporters. To say that this is a worrying sign would be an understatement of epic proportions. This sign is a warning that we are on our last legs as a nation & are about to head into Civil War #2.
During the debate, Mike Pence summed up the position of most in Washington and elites around the nation. He hearkened back to the days of Reagan and a shining city on a hill. Ramaswamys response summed up the sentiments of conservative voters: this isn't the 1980s, it's not morning in America & it's impossible to go back. Stop living in the past & deal with our current reality, which is quite dark & deteriorating constantly!
I think we are all aware of global elites & their agenda. We are fighting a worldwide, left wing, totalitarian cabal that appear to want us turned into serfs and/or eliminated completely. They want a borderless world without national loyalties, an economy designed to only benefit elites, a lack of faith in God and an unelected, appointed government & police state.
Watching criminalized opposition, seeing Soros/Zuckerberg influence, experiencing election fraud and finding out about bizarre happenings like the Hawaii fires, has coalesced to make a strong argument in Trumps favor at this important time! I will always have criticisms of people on our side because I want us to win & anything we are failing at needs to be corrected to ensure that we succeed. The stars are too high to sit around and kiss anybodys butt!
Any criticism that most conservatives have is centered around making sure we don't get involved in petty arguments, that we support whomever we want in primaries, but support all Reublicans in the general to ensure Democrats won't have power, that we stop fighting amongst ourselves & that we make election security a priority.
Trump supporters need to allow some criticism, so that he changes tacts when needed & hones his debating skills. He has to appeal to the broader electorate and win enough of a majority to prevent Democrats efforts to cheat from succeeding. They need to understand that many of us would like to see a rising star like DeSantis or Ramaswamy elevated to more important positions for the future. We have got to have leaders for an era post-Trump & we need Congressional & state Republicans to work with Trump to get things done. That cant happen if you attack any and all who express a concern. In essence, we need to be more productive and stop fighting with each other.
I dont know what the perfect answer is for us, but I think the best answer at this time is to work to get Trump reelected, work to ensure fairness in elections and stop the barrage of communist BS and woke lefty ideology from advancing. I would strongly urge any and all conservatives, even if you don't support him in the primaries, to absolutely support Trump passionately in the general election. We have to turn out in the greatest numbers they've ever seen & get all Republicans elected to as many offices as humanly possible!
Best of luck to your hearing.
You both nailed it….as did some others.
This nearsighted opus would have been more productive had it focused on the real problem - a uniparty that has existed for 50 yrs. Trump cannot drain the swamp alone. His re-election only insures that we have 4 more years to get a MAGA party and MAGA congress. And that won’t happen either because so many have been focusing on Trump colonoscopies, 7 years and counting.
To be fair, these people also voted for Congress RINOs for decades and will vote for them again, minus colonoscopies.
Imagine their shock once MAGA stops voting period.
“””What Patriots are looking for and what the GOP is looking for are two entirely different things.””””
You are correct.
It was probably 6 or 7 years ago that I first heard the term “UNIPARTY”.
What I find in my encounters with my family and friends today is that too many of these longtime Republican voters believe that all they need to do is vote for Republican candidates and all will be fine.
For those of us who probably spend far too much time reading and studying politics, it became very obvious during the Trump Presidential years and his Post Presidential years that the UNIPARTY is real as Trump gets attacked by Republicans and Democrats.
DeSantis created Election Police. They started investigating vote fraud and arresting people.
DeSantis wins his next election by 20%, and all the usual election shenanigans in Miami-Dade county have effectively stopped.
Replicate this in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada, and Trump wins by a landslide.
Election fraud cost us 2020 and 2022. Nothing else.
Did it occur to you that he has a better chance of doing something about them if he lulls them into a false sense of security by leaving them to believe he isn't interested in them?
Pretty sure if he said he was going to burn them out root and branch, they would go to extraordinary lengths to take him out, up to killing him.
This post is a perfect encapsulation of the problems I’m bumping into with this movement. It seems as though your main function is trolling people. Every day, multiple times a day, yall are constantly calling people establishment, unitary, Democrats-lite, rings. It’s like a medical condition. Tourettes? I’m at Free Republic because I’m about as far right-wing as one can get. I’m fairly certain that there isn’t a single issue that I’m not conservative on. I grew up listening to Rush Limbaugh & both of my parents were staunch conservatives. Nope , definitely not establishment! I never go wobbly! There’s something about the Gaul of yall throwing accusations out there like that and thinking that that kind of attitude will succeed in drawing someone to Trump. I think you do him damage & the rest of us damage when you continually bash your own side. Obviously nearly all of us are here because we are right wingers. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out. No I’m not a Mitch McConnell kind of girl & I despise most of DC. Critiquing the campaign of someone that I’m planning on voting for for the 3rd time is not a secret sign that I’m a deep stater or an establishmentarian. I do it because I’m petrified by the thought of leftists in charge of immigration & gun policy, their attemps to sell out this nation & her history and their horrible support for fascism and political correctness. It would be nice if your fellow travelers were capable of understaing that. The only thing that yall seem capable of is daily trolling of fellow conservatives, pushing away anyone with questions or concerns and ultimately damaging the prospects of Trump by repelling anyone that is parroting exactly what you say 🙄
Apparently you misunderstood my post. I have no doubt that you’re conservative and I have no interest in changing your mind proven by the fact that I did not respond directly to you. I’m not ‘wobbly’ either nor do I troll. Nonetheless, I never turn down an honest debate.
“Don’t bash your own side”….. I will NEVER vote for a republican that does not fight or represent the people. I never voted before Trump for that very reason (I’m 57).
Carter
Reagan - hated by the left
Bush - CIA globalist
Clinton
Bush - globalist
Obama
Trump - hated by the entire Congress
Biden
50 yrs of uniparty Congress
The Republican party has done NOTHING for the people for 50 yrs. They stand for nothing and are definitely not America First. If they were, we wouldn’t need a bull as president, any Republican would do. In the meantime, we have lost most of our freedoms and wealth.
My POINT in my post (that you misconstrued due to emotion):
The VOTERS (you and others) put those lying republican grifters in Congress….REPEATEDLY. And on FR, instead of getting all emotional about that, we spend months arguing about Trump multiple times a day. Meanwhile, regardless of who wins DeSantis/Trump/whomever, Congress will fight them as well.
You made many assumptions that don’t apply to me and I won’t make any assumptions about you even though you did state ‘terrified of losing the presidency because of the terrible things the dems will do’. Many feel that way but not me. We lost when both Bush’s were elected and when Trump was elected. Congress made sure that the uniparty agenda continued regardless of who was president. And they will do it again and again and again UNTIL the voters start pressuring them and removing them.
Just a small example, we know FR in monitored. Imagine if we talked about Congress as often and fervently as we do Trump/Cruz or Trump/DeSantis? Most articles get @20 comments but a ‘Trump’ article gets @100 and often times much more.
Our focus and anger should be spotlighted on those calling the shots, and it ain’t the presidency.
Now……if you think the Republicans in Congress are better than Dems, tell me what conservative things they’ve done since Reagan. My theory, after vietnam, the uniparty knew the country would not allow another war like that but they still needed to grift. So they decided to invade foreign areas on the pretense of ‘enforcing democracy blah blah blah’ so they could keep the war machine going and all of the money affiliated with it. At the same time, pharma started commercializing drugs on every tv show to make more money. That money went to DC as well. Both sides have the SAME donors. Big tech has been censoring us for years. Etc, etc, etc.
I will never support the uniparty. And I hope the Republican party is replaced by the America First party or whatever.
It’s almost comical that you mentioned guns, woke, fascism and political correctness. Those problems are minor - we are losing the dollar due to outrageous spending over decades. We will experience poverty like we’ve never seen. We have NO GDP. We are consumers, not producers. Both parties want an open border for cheap labor. We will be at war soon, our backing of Ukraine against Russia. Both parties want a war. We live in a surveillance country. Crime is no longer prosecuted and lawfare is the new weapon.
Congress won’t change until we change.
And NO, Trump can’t fix any of this nor will he make much progress. If he does, they will assassinate him. They don’t care about the other candidates, they all are owned by donors, especially if they want two terms. Assassination is their last choice. They are going to boot Biden because they can’t cheat enough for him to win. Trump has 20% of the black vote already. It will increase. Dems will put in an ‘Obama’ type who will win the general. If they can’t pull that off, they will kill or imprison Trump.
So…………what’s the solution? Start handing out opus colonoscopies for the Congress. That would unite voters but many here aren’t that interested. They’d rather argue about Trump……which is a distraction from the real problems.
I will admit to being naive for a longggg time before the Trump era. My youth & lack of experience at that point caused me not to search much past the surface. I truly think that may have been a result of no actual life experience. Too many millennial era kids grew up pampered with most things provided by their parents. We are now home owners, momma and daddy have passed and my husband & I are now solving our own problems.
For instance, at the time, I thought George W. was a decent man. I have since we realized the opposite is true. He really us an idiot. I think that there are some decent people in the GOP- like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Governor DeSantis, etc. Essentially I only really favor very conservative people. I come it from a very conservative across the board outlook: traditional values, pro life, free markets, America First, constitutionality, limited government.
I agree the party has dome nothing. They are better than the Democrats but not by enough to justify their existence. They are wholly owned & operated, like the Dems by lobbyists, big business & interest groups. I’m obviously not a favorer of the unitary either. I desire an actual conservative party that limits immigration, favors American workers &abides by our constitution.
I’m not under the illusion that anything going to change with or without Trump any time soon. I honestly think those things will ultimately be addressed through Civil War #2. I think having Trump leading us is important because it gives us a better shot at succeeding, but all sorts of things need to change. We need people in all offices that actually represent the public- not lobbyists & socialists & woke buttholes! 😉
Thank you for taking the time and sharing that info. You and I agree and I totally understand your path. Millions have done the same thing.
As for those that bark for or against Trump, they don’t know how to express themselves effectively thus irritating others. Ignore that. In the meantime, your opinion matters.
My only wish is that the GOP is replaced. Why reward bad behavior?
You might be interested in this 5 min clip, it lays out what’s coming. We are in very dangerous times because of Trump hatred. And I’d be interested in your reaction if you have time.
Again, thank you for having the character to respond honestly.
We need to MAGA.
WE need to get RID OF DEMOCRATS and vote TRUMP IN AS PRESIDENT.
the democrats ARE RUINING THIS GREAT. COUNTRY.
9 million ILLEGALS ENTERED UNDER BIDEN AND THE DEMOCRATS.
VOTE DEMOCRAT OUT.
It was recently reported, that, at least in one location, Trump is now considered the president of the US.
You are asking where?
Okay...that item emanated from.....wait for it.....Davos.
Trump is our David vs Goliath. Pray for the man.
Yeah, Trump is almost 80 but who could sit through a courtroom the way he did and then speak at the rally for over an hour with energy and enthusiasm. If he wins, my concern is what happens after four years we’re gonna go back to the same thing.?
“ the only brand of Conservatism that was allowed by elites”
The only brand of conservatism that exists is a brand that conserves nothing.
It’s over. Time for something new.
There’s only one “Presidential election” in the Constitution, it was on December 14, 2020, there were 538 voters and 306 of them voted for Biden and he was elected.
The authority over those voters are 50 State Legislatures (plus the 3 Congress gave itself in 1960). Not one State Legislature disagreed with the result. Not one even convened to debate it. The Pennsylvania legislature adjourned and fled to avoid the issue.
It’s over, over, over. No room for Sore Loserman.
Correct. Both parties wanted Trump out of office because he was bad for business.
“ because he was bad for business”
Correct with one addition I hope you can accept: Trump was bad for THEIR business.
You’re tilting at windmills. President Trump continues to bring it up. It’s a litmus test for MAGA for many posters.
Either you believe Mike Lindell and the whole bunch or essentially you’re against President Trump.
