A new lawsuit accuses employees at a Popeyes restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, of attacking a woman in the drive-thru after she attempted to have her order corrected.
The incident allegedly happened in September 2022 at the Popeyes location on Cleveland Avenue in southwest Atlanta.
After Denetra Dawson attempted to fix an incorrect order, employees allegedly attacked her, pulling out a chunk of her hair and leaving her bruised, according to the lawsuit filed Friday. Dawson said in the lawsuit that when she tried to have her order fixed, words were exchanged before the employees attacked.
“I didn’t even think I was going to make it back to my kids,” Denetra Dawson told Fox 5 Atlanta. “I simply went to get food for my kids, I still don’t understand why me.” ***
[A] attorney Mawuli Davis, who is working on the case, told the outlet that one employee physically opens Dawson’s passenger door, enters the vehicle and begins to attack her.
Dawson said three employees were involved in the attack and that the only way she could stop them was by pulling out a gun.
According to an incident report, two people — Tenice Taylor and a minor — were charged with battery. A third person identified as Tenister Evans was charged with misdemeanor obstruction of an officer.
“They ripped out the braid out of her hair, all the way down to the root,” Davis said.
Dawson said she was left with physical and emotional scars after the attack. “They took my identity, I take pride in my hair, I can’t get certain hairstyles,” she said.
Davis claims the restaurant’s manager had a documented criminal past involving violent acts, and that Popeyes showed negligence by hiring this person and not conducting proper background checks. ***

Yeah. Folks talk about a lack of impulse control, but she had a gun and nobody got shot.
And so far, so good. It’s noisy but WTH!
“What’s up with the names?”
Functional illiteracy and birth certificates do not mix.

I’m an old white person. I’m in bed at 05:30.
Other options for a kid’s name could have been Golph, Bacebol, and Hawkee.
It still is!
Moral of the story is if you go to a drive-thru at Popeyes, keep your doors locked and your pistol out.

...I just returned from a 9,400 mile road trip pulling a 40’ boat. So, I was 63’ long and heavy. Meaning, I wasn’t going to be able to “run” from anybody.
When I went through large cities, which I had little choice but do, I made sure to do 5 things: 1. Enter the city not needing to go to the restroom or eat for a few hours. 2. Full tanks of diesel. 3. Do not get off expressway under any circumstance. 4. Have shotgun loaded, one in the chamber and safety on and in arms reach. 5. Don’t stop.
I imagine there are many who exercise similar precautions going through America’s big cities these days.
Why wasn’t that Mother at home cooking a good meal for her kids?
I don’t think I have ever eaten at a Popeye’s. There is one near my house. I rarely see any cars there. The Wendy’s next door always has a long line of cars and the dining room is busy as well.
Down the street from me is a Popeye’s and the story this week was one of the cashiers was taking photo’s of people using debit cards and then using them.
And try to use a black accent when you order at the drive-thru.
Good Advice.
That’s my verdict too.
My thoughts exactly.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, iirc.
This one’s almost as bad as ‘waffle house’ action.
