Trump: Nominating Wray ‘Probably Was’ a Mistake, Christie Recommended Him
Breitbart ^ | 07/14/2023 | Ian hatchett

During a portion of an interview set to air on Sunday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Sunday Morning Futures” that was aired on Friday’s broadcast of FBN’s “Mornings with Maria,” 2024 presidential candidate former President Donald Trump stated that “it probably was” a mistake for him to nominate Christopher Wray to be FBI Director during his term and Wray “was recommended very strongly” by 2024 GOP rival former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Host Maria Bartiromo introduced the clip of the interview by stating, “President Trump reacting to this week’s Judiciary Committee hearing with FBI Director Christopher Wray. I spoke with the 45th President…we started our conversation with a look at the upcoming debate and whether he will participate, and I got his reaction to the FBI Director defending [against] the charges of weaponization and [politicization] at the FBI.”

Yeah. Trump was fighting both parties, for the first two years.

Christie wanted to be Trump's AG. They go way back together. Go watch Christie's 2016 convention speech.

Christie turned on Trump at the press conference when Trump announced his AG pick ... Sessions. Go watch that press conference and look at Christie's face when the pick of Sessions was announced. That is the moment when Christie turned on Trump.

Christie had prosecuted Jared's father in the past. Did Jared nix Christie for AG?

Hindsight is always 2020, but Trump's term would have been totally different without Sessions as AG.

“But McCain said he would only vote for Wray, and no-one else.”

EXACTLY. Trump was the newcomer depending on the “trusted”, experienced party members. They stabbed him (and the country) in the back over and over and over.

But it’s all Trump’s fault. 🙄

Trump was a chump. Newsflash: any GOP appointment who gets 90-something votes for anything is bound to be a turd. He should have picked someone good who might have eeked through or just rotated acting directors until they acquiesced.

.
He was played by Chris Christie

And if Chris Christie was any further Deep State, you’d have to drill to the center of the earth to deliver his Donuts.

Now tell me why the Republicans love Chris Wray, even to this day.

None of us knew the extent of corruption. You likely did not realize it, so how was Trump to know. He’s one man vs a multi-million man machine intent on perpetuating power.

Who was Trump supposed to hire, when he didn’t have any names that were not Big State?

To be fair - Mountain Walker (post 16) correctly identifies three good things Trump did.

And what is the supposed Trump 2.0? More of the same, endless blaming others, 24x7 martyrdom? Seriously, what would be different? And what credibility for that difference?

Has any interviewer actually challenged Trump on his horrible appointments and endorsements?

If so, I would like to see the video.

President Truman: The buck stops here.

President Trump: The buck probably was a mistake, but it's someone else's fault anyway.

“Thank goodness some patriot handed him a federalist society list of judges in 2016 or he would have nominated 3 Souters to the Supreme Court with his atrocious track record of appointments.”

Thanks for the reminder.
