Trump was a chump. Newsflash: any GOP appointment who gets 90-something votes for anything is bound to be a turd. He should have picked someone good who might have eeked through or just rotated acting directors until they acquiesced.
But there was only (at most) 49 votes for anyone else other than Ray.
If McCain wasn’t going to vote for him, none of the Dems would. Why would they bail out a Trump nomination ?

I favoured Bowdich at the time. Now, Bowdich is Swamp, but he wasn’t as stupid as Wray.
