A Colorado Circle K employee is suing the company after she was fired for putting her hands on an armed thief that snatch a pack of cigarettes from behind the counter.
Mary Ann Moreno, 75, claims in her lawsuit against Circle K Stores, Inc. that she was wrongfully terminated from the Westminster store she had worked at for 18 years for her brief interaction with the criminal.
“I really did not think I would get fired for something like that. [Maybe] If I had chased him out the door or, you know, argued with him,” she told KDVR.
On Oct. 4, 2020, Moreno was behind the counter when Tyler Wimmer walked into the convenience store with a knife in one hand and a sealed package in the other that also contained a knife.
It’s not clear in surveillance footage obtained by KDVR whether or not he ever threatened Moreno with the knife, but Willmer did ask if she would give him a pack of cigarettes for free. Moreno declined, telling him she would get fired if she did.

What “caused it to happen” was a thief stealing their stuff.
She declines to give a package of cigarettes to a man with a knife, saying she’d get fired if she did.
He steals the cigarettes. She gets fired. This is #woke in action.
If I were running Circle K’s competitor, I’d offer her a job.
She should have known better.
30 years ago, I “clotheslined” a guy running out of my local Circle K with a ‘suitcase’ of beer in each hand.
The Cashier freaked out and said to me: “Are trying to get me fired?!?! We aren’t allowed to stop shoplifters; We aren’t even allowed to call the police unless someone gets stabbed or shot.”
And that was decades ago, long before Soros owned District Attorneys started coddling criminals and spreading Chaos.
Property is theft.
At first I read it that way as well. She got fired after a guy who stole the pack of cigarettes sued the company.
That certainly is the way they view it. Filthy scum.
18 years of dedication vs
18 moments dreaming up the shoplifting
Yeah, definitely get rid of the employee. /s
What if he wanted HER PURSE? How was she to know he wasn’t going to take her possessions or her life? Is she allowed to defend her personal space? Her possessions? Her life?
