Bud Light’s controversial partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney could have been a “strategic” attempt to permanently alter the brand’s audience, according to an anonymous former employee.
The popular beer brand came under fire in April after a post from Mulvaney’s Instagram account featured a personalized Bud Light can. The backlash against the brand in response to partnering with the transgender figure led to a massive slump in sales. Though the company’s CEO insisted in a statement that it “never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people,” the ex-Anheuser-Busch worker suggested that the move was intentional.
“[Employees] expressed the fact that they were shocked. ‘Why would they do this? What were they thinking?’ Especially now. This is the worst; it’s like the worst time yet, the best timing yet if a company were trying to change the way it operates from a corporate level. And that’s just my opinion,” he said to OutKick’s Tomi Lahren.

The new “bottom line” for so many corporations is their ESG score. They are between BlackRock and a hard place.
As I recall from my marketing classes (many, many years ago) the biggest consumers of beer are the one and two six pack at a time crowd. The fruity sippers aren't the people it pays to focus on.
So what if they got those transvestite people? They wouldn't drink enough Bud Light to make a significant increase in sales. It was more of a culture wars things, (let's be cool) and because they live in the bubble, they are incapable of thinking it through.
On the other hand, maybe their marketing research concluded that transvestites are big-drinking alcoholics. Which, when you think about it, might make sense.
Corporate raiding? I’ve considered this a possibility since the start.
It’s not like InBev is taking steps to improve sales. Setting quality way-down-low <pun and going trans to sell to males?
Lots of value in those breweries.
To what end? To sling-shot Barefoot wine and other faggot drink sales?
Attempt to permanently alter the brand’s audience.
It worked now it’s down to 0.2 % of beer drinkers.
Liberals are never happy.
Never.
Agree. It would be the only Fortune 100 company that didn’t have a strategic review process to fully vet and obtain C-level support for major initiatives like this...
Guarantee there are many fingerprints on this we don’t know about and while it was absolutely planned, it was not planned to torch the brand. They miscalculated...badly.
Oh yeah, and Ford wanted to lose money on the Edsel. And coke on Coke Zero. And Biden on Ukraine.
Really? A-B is a...
...victim?
Nonsense, of course. And this won't work, either.
Related, kind of. Check out Babylon Bee's satiric "Garth Brooks Opens Gay Bar."
I think the only way it might be true is that Bud light WAS pro MAGA in it’s support. Someone leaving the CIA ‘quickly vaulted’ to the top to become CEO at Bud LIght and then the brand spikes it’s audience - doesn’t that just strip corporate funding from MAGA? Maybe?
Never ascribe something to careful planning when utterly stupid will do.

I will give Dylan $5000 for that can.
I bid 5001
That makes so much sense. Take your best seller and strategically destroy it. Genius.
So start sabotaging trucksfind out what the Brotherhood of Teamster think about telling AB to go pound sand work slow downs & sabotage at warehouses % suppliers o beer cans/bottles bottle caps so that AB runs way low .Then combined wirhwork slow downs & teamster problems added to the attempts to get shit at the brewery back to normal combined with massive agitation of stock holders demanding heads roll for the resulting clusterfuck then you might see AB recover till these things happen AB needs to hemorrhage money to the point of finacial collapse!
Only a deranged mind would burn down its own "house" intentionally and/or strategically.
Though folks say Bud and Bud Light were in decline, Bud was still the dominant beer brand in America.
For example, a Bud Bold to offset its Bud Light brand. A Bold Beer with a bold taste and possibly a higher alcohol content. They could have run a nationwide contest wherein they invited micro-brewers to compete to produce the best Bud Bold beer.
Perhaps they could have even introduced some Bud seasonal beer. Like a Boch in the fall for Octoberfest. And a special Bud Bold for baseball season (Light but bolder, crisp like Singha).
