Donald Trump Megadonor Abandons Him As He Predicts Collapse in Support
Newsweek via MSN ^ | 22 May 23 | Ewan Palmer

Posted on 05/22/2023 4:09:24 AM PDT by Erik Latranyi

A top GOP donor who previously backed Donald Trump has announced that he will be supporting Ron DeSantis in the 2024 Election.

Hal Lambert, founder and CEO of Texas-based Point Bridge Capital, said he wants to "do a lot to help DeSantis win" amid strong speculation the Florida governor will confirm his presidential campaign in the coming days.

Lambert, who set up an exchange-traded fund named after the former president's Make America Great Again 2016 campaign slogan, MAGA ETF, and previously served on Trump's inaugural committee in 2016, told the New York Post that he decided to back DeSantis after meeting with him and wife in Florida three weeks ago.

Lambert said he was also put off by Trump's recent CNN town hall, where the former president continued to falsely claim the 2020 Election was "rigged."

"What voters who didn't vote for Trump in 2020 are going to vote for him this time based on his performance? I don't think anyone will," Lambert told The Post. "We can't talk about things from four years ago that can't be changed.

"Trump is going to have a difficult time winning the general election. The election won't be about Joe Biden's bad record. It will be a referendum on Trump instead."

It is reported that DeSantis will file paperwork declaring his presidential candidacy on May 25 to coincide with a donor meeting in Miami, before a formal announcement a few days later.

Conservatives have been fighting against Roe v Wade for 50 years. President Trump got the job done. Most all of his presidential policies were conservative. He is one of the most conservative presidents ever.

God works in mysterious ways.

Desantis is owned by the establishment money men. Without them he can’t run and so he will do what they tell him…

Anyone thinking he would fight for them over the establishment is fooling themselves

Yup. DeSantis and many of his supporters can't acknowledge the stolen election because then they have to admit that Trump won twice.

Thank you for proving you are nothing more than a FILTHY LIAR Not one person here disputed that 2020 had massive fraud. I dare you to find it, LIAR. You won't and it proves your posts are worthless

I don't lie. There are posters here who "dispute" that the 2020 election was stolen. Here's the last one that posted to me:

So that's YOUR "dirty filthy lie".

But I didn't say "dispute", I said "acknowledge", as in not to admit or refusing to address or ignoring the subject when one is confronted with it.

So that's your "dirty filthy lie" #2.

For example here's your presidential candidate, Ron DeSantis refusing to acknowlede that the 2020 election was stolen.

link with over a minute of context.

And there are other links of DeSantis refusing to acknowledge that the 2020 election was stolen.

Your desperation is noticeable. Look how you twist my words. Look how you lie. That makes you a "worthless dirty filthy liar".

Trump was doing a lot and making waves that needed to be made. That is why I answered his call to come to Washington on January 6th. It is too bad we didn’t have enough media and PR to stop the Left from setting the false narratives of the January 6th events.

Agree. The average IQ of FR is being dumbed down to single digits by the Trumpeteers.

It is good to put that fiction to bed.

Men like Trump are very adept at using “Other People’s Money.”

I totally agree. I loved most of what Trump did.

However, Trump's recent statement that he would negotiate an abortion deal that the whole country could live with is unacceptable.

Trump says he would reach abortion 'deal' that the 'whole country can agree with'

Why bring this back to a federal issue?

Also, Trump used Florida's 6 week ban on abortion to attack DeSantis

Trump hits DeSantis on abortion, suggests 6-week abortion limit is ‘too harsh’

That after Trump blamed conservatives for the midterm losses.

Trump blames pro-life Republicans for midterm loss

These are not good indications of what another Trump term could mean.

Lastly, Trump is only attacking DeSantis in the primary....the most conservative governor in the race. Trump has welcomed Haley and Scott to the race, even praising Rick Scott.

Of course, would vote for the more conservative candidate, Trump. I will fight the communists to the end.

We both have plenty of years of having to make similar choices.

Where did all the extra votes come from, the ones even the rats did not see coming?

A lot of them came from California. Without Biden's 12 million vote margin coming out of California Trump would have won the popular vote.

If the Democrats didn't see all those votes coming in, then it's a sign that a lot of those votes were real. There was cheating in key states that gave Biden his electoral college victory, but IIRC Trump was more unpopular than popular in the polls throughout his term, so it's not surprising that Biden could have won a popular vote majority even without cheating.

It's not 1952 or 1972 or 1984 anymore. America has changed. Immigration, college indoctrination, generational change, and the Democrat's alliance with big business have made us into a different country.

You said there was nothing about Presidential Elections in article II. I maintain there is.

I did not say anything about members of the public voting. Not anywhere in my posts. But there is indeed information about Presidential Elections in Article II.

Do I think there should be more Federal control? As Anti-Federalist as I have become in my life, allowing a dog’s breakfast of election processes is a damned mistake of gargantuan proportions.

Instead of plugging one hole or multiple holes in one area, we have to plug multiple holes in 50 different states.

One of the things that is genius about our makeup (or used to be genius) was the fact that anything not delegated to the Federal Government was the province of the states.

That way, people would be free to choose the state that had the best aspects of what they are interested in, be it school policies, tax policies, gun rights, whatever.

But it was a serious mistake to leave Elections of the President up to each state. I say that because fraud in one state affects the outcome of the whole. If it were seats in the house or senate, I would be less vocal about it. But because voting processes (or lack of voting processes, or even worse, deliberately corrupted voter processes) in other states directly affect the outcome of the Presidential election for states that run them efficiently and void of corruption, I feel differently about them.

Given that the Constitution set a day in December to count the Electoral votes, those votes had to be tallied in states and delegates appointed, and a physical journey had to be made, which was quite relevant in 1789 to the process of starting the election earlier to make that requirement possible.

The Founders did a great job at hemming in those who would subvert government, but leaving this giant hole in place, to be exploited by the Left is a massive error.

The Constitution is a wonderful document for running a country, but it isn’t perfect, and this is one of the main ways it is imperfect. If there was ever a need for a Constitutional Amendment, this would be one need we should address. If we don’t, we are finished, because we are going to become balkanized (we already are) and will end up in a civil war.

I don’t know that he is or isn’t “owned” by establishment money men, but his rhetoric, and the people backing him certainly point to his being beholden to people who don’t share my values, so...in that, I feel I am in agreement with you.

I just see a DeSantis Presidency as more of the same that we had prior to Trump’s Presidency, with few exceptions.

Less than 40 percent voted Biden, the rest was the steal.

Look at Biden’s approval numbers, less than 40%. Those approving Bidens work are he ones who voted for him.

If you want to see the anatomy of the stolen 2020 election, read the Navarro Report:
