Ask any billionaire and you’ll get your answer, which is that it is often cheaper and much faster to ‘make a problem go away’ for a few bucks, rather than to have to go through what Kavenaugh went through (in which she now admits was all a lie). There was also the matter of the timing.

I believe the NDA was signed in early November.

The allegations were being made right before an election. Some voters would potentially believe the allegations and Trump wouldn't have time to defend himself. Votes would be lost.

He was days away from winning a big election. $130,000 isn't a lot of money even if you are innocent of the charges.
