NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – At least four people are dead, including the shooter, following an “active shooter” situation at a school in Green Hills.

The Nashville Fire Department said the incident happened at Covenant School located at 33 Burton Hills Boulevard. Metro police reported that officers engaged the shooter, who is dead. A spokesperson with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt confirmed to News 2’s Kendall Ashman that three children were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, but have died from their injuries.

Hospital officials also said two adults were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and have died from their injuries.

Here’s my take, YMMV.

1. Gun control is meaningless. Seriously, this murderer would have gotten their firearms somehow. Something drove this person and honestly, a look at the manifesto will probably tell law enforcement what that was.

2. Releasing the manifesto. I am of two minds on that. On the one hand, I’d like to know if this person was motivated by some agenda, or if were they just nuts. If it was the former? I suspect we will see more of this, sadly. On the other hand? Releasing the manifesto is going to give other wrong-headed idiots all sorts of ideas.

3. I’ve seen some comments on this thread that basically boil down to “bullying is a good thing.” Please stop. Seriously. I was badly bullied in school. Kinda why I hate the public schools, and the Liberal-Educational complex in general. As much as I severely disliked school? I never and I mean never, entertained thoughts of killing my classmates. Of course, I am not trans. Just a weird nerdy kid who loved military affairs and history, and was socially awkward. Guess what, I have a job and am married now.

4. What the hell is it about spring and these damn shootings? Every spring it seems there’s a rash of these things. My theory, for what it’s worth, is the kids who are prone to snapping snap under the stress of exams. I don’t know? Certainly not a mental health professional, but it’s a theory.
