As long as that's the case, our problems are not fixable.

We have challenges, to be certain.

I suspect that among the issues to surface during the primaries will be width and depth of appeal of each candidate.

How many indie voters will opt for the GOP nom? How many GOP voters will turn out, and will any be turned off?

Likability and trust are huge (that's where 'mean' tweets' impact is immeasurable) and insults and schoolyard names hurt the candidate among folks just trying to figure out for whom they might vote.

And, as an aside, intense unlikability and acute distrust did not serve Hillary well in 16. The Dems knew enough to find someone else in 20.

He did have control over it. Even it is, as you say, that the pictures automatically appeared on his TS post when he posted the article, surely he knew that would happen. He didn’t start posting on TS yesterday. And if he somehow did not know(!), he could instantly see that they did appear on his post and could have deleted it within seconds.

Whether or not you think this is making a mountain out of a molehill, Trump intentionally posted those images on TS.

Sorry, I am not going to judge Trump just by what others think of him.

Especially since his enemies (and by extension our enemies) have done much much worse.

That said, I do not know if I will support him, when the time comes to make a choice next year. A lot can happen between now and then.

Good post. We should not ignore how many voted as much against Hillary as for Trump in 2016. Some who did not like Trump voted for him because they actively hated Hillary. Me, I voted for Trump, but if the Republicans had run a three-legged blind possum against her, I would have crawled across broken glass to vote for the possum.

In 2020, the unsolicited mail-in ballots put the Dems at great advantage (easy cheating hard to prove). Trump knew this in advance, but has done nothing to counter it before or since. He carries on and on about the stolen election, but what has he done to prevent the next one being stolen? DeSantis cleaned up Florida’s electoral system and formed an effort isn’t get-out-the-vote machine. That Republican in California won his seat against all odds in the 2022 midterms by beating the Dems at their own game by forming his own ballot harvesting organization. What has Trump done?

Nearly everyone in my RL circle are conservatives and voted twice for Trump, and were strong supporters. But over the past few months, they have grown disappointed in him. They wonder why he has been beating up on DeSantis and carrying on about the stolen election instead of hitting hard on winning issues like the economy. They have grown more and more fed up with his antics. And, no, not just suburban women, but suburban men, men who used to be strong supporters. A few wonder wonder whether he’s gone off the deep end.

I have no illusions about Trump changing his ways. It is not going to happen.

No one asked you to judge Trump by what others think of him.

Whether you think Trump showed good judgment when he posted those images is up to you, your own judgment.

When did Drudge swing slightly right of Castro?

“too many of his tweets and statements, now and during his presidency were counterproductive”

So getting millions more votes in 2020 than in 2016 is an indication of him being “counterproductive” during his presidency? And I really hated that cheap gas thing.

if you come seeking to destroy us... he will help you shortly.

Nicely balanced analysis, CH.

But where to find sight-impaired three-legged possums these days?

It was a metaphor. Are you not familiar with those or are you wilfully ignorant?

Trump speaks like a northeastern person. Custom, not instability. Mature adults understand what he was conveying.

"....fed up with his antics..."

And his selfish dishonesty.

He likes people to think he is fighting to make things better for Americans. And that Ron should be slavishly loyal to Don.

Ron is correctly loyal to the cause, not to some very flawed man.

Ron is also the one winning the battle against the evil Soros machine.

What is happening to Don today in his old home state would not happen in his new home state. Because Ron.

Any honest R would leverage this time of national attention and take this golden opportunity to compare and contrast his home states. And highlight the real, significant winning in one. Florida. Where woke goes to die and where Soros-funded hacks go to get fired. By Ron. It's a much needed story of hope on this front. And a blue print to be supported by honest R candidates.

Why is Trump so passionately mute on this good news? His stubbornly selfish silence and disloyalty to the cause indict him.

Trump is begging for sympathy, that's his best hand. It works to an extent, because his support is mostly emotion-based, not principle-based. Don made the call about being arrested because he was afraid Bragg WASN'T going to do it. A cartoonish prosecutor helps poor-me Don win emotions.

In the battle against Soros-funded injustice:

Ron is already looking like George Foreman.

Don is campaigning for the role of George Floyd.

DeSantis almost had me. Until he flipflopped on Ukraine. Nikki Haley is a fake and total idiot, not to mention warmonger. That leaves Vivek Ramaswamy. I don’t know that much about him, but what I’ve learned so far is promising.

But the trouble is, if Trump wins the primary, he can’t win in the general. If he does not win the primary, he’ll either run third party or will so savage the nominee that the Dems win. Whichever way you look at it, the Dems win. I’m almost hoping Tulsi Gabbard runs as an Independent and takes a big bite out of both parties.
