The Republican Party of Reagan would be Ukraine’s strongest supporters

In 1984 on the 40th anniversary of D-Day, Ronald Reagan ascended the windswept stage of Pointe Du Hook, Normandy to commemorate one of the greatest sacrifices in the defense of freedom the world had ever seen.

“We in America have learned bitter lessons from two World Wars,” Reagan declared. “It is better to be here ready to protect the peace, than to take blind shelter across the sea, rushing to respond only after freedom is lost. We’ve learned that isolationism never was and never will be an acceptable response to tyrannical governments with an expansionist intent.”

Nearly 40 years after he spoke those words, Reagan’s remarks should serve as a stark reminder and warning to leaders looking out at an increasingly unsettled world who are tempted by the siren’s call of American isolationism, rather than declaring and reaffirming the value of American leadership.

Ronald Reagan’s actions caused the USSR to fall apart. Putin calls this one of the world’s greatest tragedies. Putin invaded Ukraine to try and bring back the old USSR. Russian army stinks, or Putin would be invading Poland too. Also bear in mind that Putin is worshipful of ol’ Joe Stalin.

If RR were President today, he would be supporting Ukraine with weapons and money. No Americans are dying there.

Putin calls this one of the world’s greatest tragedies.

Because Bush and Clinton saw to it that it was.

Bull, Reagan won the Cold War without a hot War.

It’s amusing to see the Chomskite left and libertarian isolatists merge into one crackpot political movement.

The point is to try to win the peace. We lost the “peace” in the aftermath of the Cold War.

So the former Soviet Union = Russia of today?
Are you going to prove this with Schrodinger’s cat and particle physics?
For someone to presume what someone else (who is several years dead) would do in a “similar” situation is totally invalid. And it belies a great deal of insincerity (or dishonesty) on their part.

Lol. False analogy. Russia today is a shadow of the USSR as a military threat, excepting nukes which are essentially weapons that can’t be used without destroying the user.

And it isn’t exporting terror globally as in the past. Look to China for that. Reagan would have tried to help Russia, not loot it like Bush and the Banks.

Ronald Reagan was elected to office checks notes 43 years ago. The party of Reagan also supported arming rebels in Afghanistan who turned around and kinda did bad things. They also supported Iran Contra which almost got Reagan impeached. So yeh the party of Reagan made an omelet but man did they break a bunch of eggs to do it.

What? These globalhomo imperialists desecrate Reagan's grave with this nonsense and show they learned nothing from him.

Reagan stood for one premise that Freedom was the foundation of American economic strength upon which our military strength is built. At no time did he try to start a kinetic war with the Soviet Union. His entire premise was that America just needed to hold strong to its values - freedom - and bide its time and communism would collapse because shackling the energies of its people would lead to its economic demise.

At no time did he preach an Anglo-American global empire built upon perversion and enslavement of hardworking Americans and shackling our own economic strength through irrelevant idiotic dogma about climate and equality of outcomes and punishment of human accomplishment.

There is nothing in the present geopolitical order that Reagan stood for at all.

To say otherwise is to ignore his Shining City on the Hill speech. At no time did he suggest the US should become a force for subversion in the rest of the world and engender universal hate for what we have done. His America was an admirable example, not a despicable leech.

We supported Saddam Hussein against Iran. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, sort of.

I’m all for peaceful resolutions. But the “tyrannical governments with an expansionist intent” have to come to the table or be dragged to the table.

Sometimes tyrannical governments are going to start a hot war. and we need to respond with a hot war before we can get back to peace.

Maybe Trump could have avoided a hot war. IDK. Right now we have a hot war.

Someone recently made the useless comment that every war ends in peace.

Reagan hated tyrants and bullies.
He would have stopped Putins aggression .
Reagan saw what bullies and tyrants did in WWII and knew that the US needed to be a force for good and freedom .

Unfortunately, Reagan allowed liberal neo-cons like Crystal, Perle, Abrams, etc., to invade the party and take over our foreign policy sucking us into never-ending Middle East wars.

I felt like reporting you by pressing the “Report Abuse” button for using the word “Bush”. (just kidding)

Every time I see it I think I should be beaten to a bloody pulp for voting for this Deep State thug that launched our longest (and most profitable) war.

Back to the main subject. Agreed. Reagan never would have been sucked into a Ukrainian war for had his policies proceeded after his terms, Russia would have been treated like any other beaten enemy, such as Japan and Germany. Today Japan and Germany are our allies. There is no reason Russia could not have been turned into an ally too.

Russians loved Reagan. He visited the Soviet Union, after he left office and attracted huge crowds.
