Ron DeSantis opens fire on Trump’s character, chaotic leadership style
NY Post ^ | March 21, 2023 4:57pm | Piers Morgan

Posted on 03/21/2023 3:09:41 PM PDT by conservative98

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally taken the gloves off and launched a blistering attack on his former mentor President Donald Trump.

In an exclusive wide-ranging interview with me airing on Fox Nation’s “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Thursday, he said “stay tuned” about his widely expected announcement that he’s running for president and declared: I have what it takes to be president and I can beat Biden.

But it’s what he said about Trump that will ignite a firestorm in the Republican Party.

You quoted Piers Morgan’s hyping headline.

Good God.

Read the thing.

"We both agree DeSantis has done Florida great, but I highly doubt he has the political capital to go up against Trump and win in any fashion."

Hard to say, hard to say. Election day is still a year and a half way, which is an eternity in politics. Much can, and will, happen in that time.

That said, I would love to keep DeSantis right here were he is now -- the best governor in the U.S. at the moment. Who would replace him if he is to run? Nuñez? How well would she do if that happens? As I understand it, Florida law currently states that DeSantis would have to resign as governor to even run for another office, and although there was talk about changing that, I don't think it was.

I have no doubt that DeSantis would make a great President, despite all the negative and sometimes unhinged commentary we see here on FR and elsewhere. But personally, I would really enjoy to have Trump as POTUS again, because this time around I have no doubt he is now fully aware of what a corrupt and evil mess he would be involved with, and would be putting heads on pikes before the first week was out. We used to speak of 'draining the swamp', but at this point I'd be perfectly OK with hitting it with a tactical nuke right off the bat.

“Without going into detail”…yeah, I can see. Read the article instead of ASSuming.

Of course, the statements printed are probably too hostile for EverTrumpers, ironically, but whatever.

Who DeSantis allegedly surrounds himself with. Compare that with Trump, please

You're not wrong with Trump picks. Not sure if they end up being traitors or what (like Rex Tillerson) however these folks are jettisoned into the wastelands.

The chance that DeSantis would separate himself from the RINOs he's aligning with are zero.

Really, you think this statement: “DeSantis slammed Trump over his character failings, chaotic leadership style, and for his handling of the COVID pandemic.” Is an accurate “summary” of this statement:

“I also think just in terms of my approach to leadership, I get personnel in the government who have the agenda of the people and share our agenda. You bring your own agenda in, you’re gone. We’re just not gonna have that. So, the way we run the government, I think, is no daily drama, focus on the big picture and put points on the board, and I think that’s something that’s very important.”

So where in that statement does Desantis “slam” Trump? Where does he even mention Trump? While I admit this is a striking difference to the way Trump ran his administration, if Trump suffers in the comparison that is Trump’s fault, not Desantis, and there is nothing in the article to indicate Desantis went out of his way to insult Trump.

It is the nature of a political campaign that candidates are going to try to differentiate themselves from other candidates, to point out what they think they can do better than the other guy. It is well known that even among many Trump supporters, some common complaints are that he brought in too many people with their own agenda and that the uproar and drama detracted from his ability to get things done. Desantis may be pointing out the differences in how his administration is able to get things done without all of that and is able to stay on tasks and on message, but he is able to do it without directly criticizing or insulting Trump. The fact that you and so many other see it as an attack would indicate that you know the comparisons are not flattering to Trump and could damage his candidacy.

so which do you prefer, a guy who is predictable as “Monday blue plate is meat loaf at the diner”, or someone that the other guy cannot quite figure out what he will do, but know it will be in our favor?

They figured him out just fine in the last election and targeted their fraud accordingly.

The bad thing is he knew what they were doing and had no idea how to counter it.

I prefer Ron DeSantis, the predictable, dependable guy from a middle class background. The one that proves himself a fighter for freedom and American values daily, who is a disciplined and highly effective governor, proven leader, dedicated husband and father, who has self-control over his mouth and testicles. Also one who has never been a huge democrat donor and who served his country in the military, and is not a war hawk. The one who has not supported any infringements on the second amendment, but has worked to promote it. The guy who actually examined the science, put freedom before vax euphoria, and took effective action to protect the most vulnerable. The one not sitting on tons of donated money while letting the patriots that responded to his call rot in J6 jail; left defending themselves on their own dime. The man that aggressively addressed election integrity in his state. The guy that showed true leadership after the devastation of hurricane Ian.

Any questions?

Just like Trump

Yet you wouldn’t like it if I said same language about you.

Don’t expect no blowback for “speaking your mind”.

FR has rules about that, too. See your reply page.

Listen pal, I’ve had far worse said to me here by plenty of Freepers including death threats by Lost Cause Losers and I brush it off.

Just like Trump?

So you’re a Never Trump.

Do you chastise others here who use the same salty language and in some cases far saltier?

Take a flying leap at a rolling dough nut and don’t post to me.

Your own words in part...

“congress was controlled by a hostile democratic party”

Trump and the GOP had full control of the administrative and legislative levers for 2 years. A wasted opportunity.

Your statement is factually incorrect

I said this before, but apparently you missed it or failed to understand it... so, I'll say it again.

How big were those majorities? And, how man of them were RINOs? And, who was the speaker of the house? And, who was the senate majority leader? And, weren't the members of congress skeptical about the new outsider president? And, were there any fake scandals which Trump had to overcome, all four years? How many presidents had those kind of conditions to overcome, regardless of the composition of the congress?

Short memory?
